Hello everyone

I went to Publix to order a money order for The payment of $535 for the k1 application. They gave me two separate checks, one for $500 and another for $35. The clerk said that the max per money order is $500. My question, is it ok to send the fee in two separate money orders? Is there any stores you're aware of that can do the whole amount on one money order?

Thank you :)

Hello all!

I have another question regarding the process for the k1 visa. I'm thinking to send a CD with couple of videos of my fiance and I as an evidence to our in person meeting. The videos will include things like family gatherings, birthday party, trip, etc. it will be like a 1 minute video of each. Has anyone tried doing this before? Do you advise against it? Please let me know your experience regarding this matter. Thank you in advance :)

I believe most money orders have a max of $500. I think 2 payments are okay I haven’t heard of anyone getting rejected for it, but just wait on a few more responses before you go with mine.

Do you have a bank account? Usually your bank is able to give you a personal money order/check in the full amount. That’s how I got mine and it’s also easier to track since you get to see when USCIS actually withdraw the money from your account.

The consulate will not look at a cd. Send photographs and/or still shots of your time together.

According to Method 3 on https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-6-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html

it states: NVC cannot accept documents saved on any form of electronic media, including CDs and memory cards.  If you send any electronic media to NVC, we will return it to you unopened.

I do have BOA. so just go there and ask them that I want a money order with that amount? Do you have any idea how much would that cost?

Thanks for your input :)

Depends on bank. Money order is usually 7-10 dollars, Cashier Check is 10-15, sometimes 20. I have a credit union I bank at a little bit and they do cashier checks for free. Depending on your account you might even get them for Free. I used a cashier check for mine.

No...absolutely not............don't try to be creative...just provide quality evidence....on paper as requested.

Ok thank you everyone. I'm not going to do that video idea then.

Any other inputs regarding the two separate money order?

Thanks again :)

Just go to the bank and request a cashiers check for the amount. Mine only cost $1. Additionally, I could track when it was cashed.

I also agree with the consensus. They will not allow any videos. But take screen shots and include those.

Yes. You just ask them for it in that amount.

i have a credit union and they didn’t charge me anything. I believe your bank shouldn’t charge you for a personal check/money order. Call them to ask.
