USCIS says they can't provide a status on our case i-485 >1 year now

Hello,

I filed our AOS for my wife with a K-1 entry and it was received June 12 of 2017. We got a NOA1

We got the EAD in 5 months but nothing so far with the AOS.

When I look at the VJ timeline, it still seems far less than a year just for an interview.

The status on USCIS website says, "At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 for additional information"

It has said this for several months now where before it just said the application was received in June.

When we call, they just say everything is fine and we need to wait.

It feels like they lost our (removed). Has anyone else experienced this status and long wait time?

Maybe I should try for an InfoPass appointment?

Seems that it sometimes happens (based on sporadic posts here on VJ and this imperfect data: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aosstats.php).

So your wife received her EAD (or EAD/AP) around November 2017? Has she applied for a free renewal, yet?; see https://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/automatic-employment-authorization-document-ead-extension and https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/employment-authorization-document

Hmm, so here's a trick I learned. Call USCIS and press the option to verify/change your address. It takes you to a Tier 2 rep right away. They won't say anything like, "Do you need to change your address?". They'll just ask you how they can help you. Tell them you want to verify the status of your case because you haven't had any online updates in a long time. They SHOULD be able to tell you a little more detail.

For example, I never got the notification of "your case is ready to be scheduled." I ended up calling them and doing what I described above. The lady ended up telling me the exact date my case got put in line for an interview request. I've been calling every other week to make sure it's still in line and hasn't been actually scheduled yet because I haven't had any online updates. Try it out. If it doesn't satisfy you, then try the InfoPass.

This is a good idea.

Doesn't hurt to try and see what they say.

Your Input Is Appreciated On This VJ Guide Proposal:

I think I'll try the Change of Address path. Thank you.

TM92. Yes, I just put in a request for the EAD extension last week.

Did you use the same form as before for the EAD renewal?  Thanks.

We have very similar timelines, PD is a month behind yours. I singed up for this facebook group for Texas AOS filers https://www.facebook.com/groups/1217794938343963/?ref=bookmarks. Just saw today, someone with K-1 from Dallas with PD in July 2017 got their interview notice today. Dallas is moving. You should expect yours any day now.

Thank you for the news. What can you tell me about the Facebook Group? I don't see much content on there

if you sign up you can see others' timelines. I use it to keep a track of how things move in my local USCIS office.
