Hi guys!

What is the email adress to ask about interview dates to the NVC?
Since the systeam is down, i would like to check with them by email..

Thanks in advance!

You need to check with the embassy of county where your husband/wife lives. If NVC accepted and complited all supporting docs they will send it to the country where you spouse supposed to get the interview appointment.

I called them and asked that and they said no, only through the portal when it's back up :(

Looks like we can mail them the documents - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-6-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html

has anyone done it?

As a former web developer and current IT professional, this is looking less like a "maintenance" and more like something broke and they're having trouble bringing the site back online.

I am also a software developer and agree with you - something is borken and they are having problems fixing it. Hopefully another week or two and it will be back.

However with the recent immigrantion policies I am scared and don’t know what to think.....

Thanks you two for your information! It goes back to a previous post about if it happened to Facebook it would have been fixed right now. I can't imagine something breaking on Facebook and that a week later their website would still be down. Is this an incorrect assumption?

It is definitely possible for a site like this to remain down for extended periods, assuming the contractors who built it are a smaller team. If there's only 5-10 people working on it, then only 1-2 of them are going to be senior or experts. There could be a problem that nobody can figure out how to fix for a few weeks. It has happened at my global, industry leading company a couple times. In software development, there's no way to cover all your bases in terms of subject knowledge so occasionally something will happen that nobody on your team has ever seen before and it can take a long time to sort out. I think another factor is probably funding. I doubt their team is authorized for overtime because of trump, so there are only so many hours in the day they can work on this

Yes, you are corrrect about a commercial website like Facebook. Normally, there is a contengency server and when the main server is down, everything gets switched to the contengency one. So, they can take as much time as they need to fix a problem and no one ever notices anything.

However, the government sites might not have contengency servers as those are expensive and require regular maintance. There is just not enough money  :(
