Many have been posting about bringing original documents at the interview. From what I understand, the applicant/person going for an interview need to have a physical copy of exact documents that were submitted to ceac. Yes they all have to be original, including tax papers, w-2/1099, job letters, bank statements, birth certificates original in native language/ notarized translations.

For the other documents such as petitioner/sponsors/joint sponsor/ household member's passport, citizenship certificate, we can't send those original to the applicant. So we have to send these documents as notorized copies to the applicant.

Just called. The only documents they need originals for are anything you submit for the beneficiary and main sponsor (financial documents can be copies.) for any joint sponsor or household member etc they can just be copies too (so passport, drivers license, financial documents etc).

Hope that helps!

They did say to check with the embassy just in case but that's what's usually required.

Hi everyone! Here are the links from the Department of State regarding the documents that you should have for the interview, specifically saying which ones are original and copies. Hope it helps!

Alright so let me get this straight, they need the original civil documents which are mostly beneficiary documents and the original documents of the main sponsor?

You can bring copies of the joint sponsor's documents? With out them being notorized?
