Hi, so i applied for my husband last May his case got approved in February this year and i submitted all the documents in May/June/July bcz we had to wait for his police certification to arrive from the other two countries. I got an email on monday saying that they received everything and now we have to wait for the interview call. Does anyone know how long that takes and will the website being down effect my case in anyway? Please let me know! Thanks!

I'm on the same stage. Waiting for nvc to schedule our interview. We got the same email on Wednesday. Since we are all done with the paperwork and everything, I don't think we're affected by ceac being down. Nvc just have to contact the embassy to see when they can schedule us for an interview. And once the interview time and date is set up we would get notify via email and/or mail.

I'm hoping the website is up soon for those who are still in the process of submitting their fees, forms, and documents.

Hey everyone

I have a question and if anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated....

My wife is a U.S. Citizen and is sponsoring me for an I R visa. The AOS and IV fee has been paid and the next step we were told was to fill out the DS 260 and AOS forms through CEAC...which obviously isn't working...My question is that which AOS form should be filled out if my wife's dad is the only one that can support. My wife hasn't been able to work bc we have a 1 year old daughter. Would my Father in law be a joint sponsor? And if anyone has been through this type of scenario plz give some info as to what the process will be onwards. Just want to get things sorted so there wont  be any delay once CEAC is back up

Thanks!

here's language about the affidavits of support from a guide elsewhere on this site (http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1). if your father in law qualifies, then he would be your joint sponsor.

A few weeks after you have received your last Notice of Action indicating the approval and forwarding of your I-130 application to the NVC, the NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad. The packet will likely contain instructions to fill out the DS-261 and DS-260 online forms, by the intending immigrant. An I-864 form is also included that must be filled out by the petitioner (living in the US). The I-864 is the Affidavit of Support form that requires copies of the petitioners past 3 U.S tax returns (or tax transcripts which are free from the IRS) as well as any bank or financial records available (see the I-864 for exact requirements based on your case). The petitioner must make at least 125% above the U.S federal poverty to indicate to the U.S government that the intending immigrant will not become a federal charge to the government when he/she arrives in the U.S.. If the petitioner cannot meet these requirements, then he/she must still file an I-864, and find a joint sponsor who can meet the requirements on his/her own. When a joint sponsor is needed ,proof of their U.S citizenship or permanent residency is required. (i.e. copy of birth certificate, immigration status etc). The joint sponsor must be residing in the U.S, and he/she must also submit his/her past 3 years U.S tax returns along with bank or any other financial records available. The joint sponsor must submit his/her own I-864 form to accompany the petitioner's I-864 form.

I was told by NVC you don’t need a police certificate for the other country if you no longer reside there.

so my father born in the philippines, is the beneficiary and he went to Saudi Arabia for more than 2 years when he was around 26 I believe.

And i I was freaking out because I thought he needed a police certificate or clearance for that country.

This is very infuriating!! I got all of my documents uploaded except 2 of them and when i received the 2 on thursday the site went down and it's been more than a week and the site still is down without any proper information of when it will be back on. I cannot concentrate on anything else.

Same here... actually I uploaded all documents but they did not like electronic signatures and asked to resubmit and the site went down :(

I only had like 2 documents left and as soon as I had them scanned the site went down and I've been checking the site daily only to be disappointed again and again.

This site being down is driving me crazy. This is very frustrating. I now have lost 2 weeks of my process. We are a small company and we can't even allow out system being down for more than 4 hours. This is unbelievable.

I called nvc twice first was a kinder guy who sounded indian. Second guy was an ahole guy who i knew didnt want me to speak to a supervisor cause i told him off. But anyways both are just common 1st tier employees but doing more research i found for pivot people may have a chance to call the embassay location. The guy i called at the embassay hk was going to help me but they asked for my spouse passport number which i didnt have on hand at the moment. So i am going to try that on monday and see what they can do.For non pivot i am not sure what can be done.

But for me i needed the confirmation completed ds260 printed page. Which i think its a joke cause you cant get to the interview stage without completing the ds260.

American immigration system sucks i lived in other countries and this has to be the slowest process and dumbest. Now i can see why illegal immigrants do it the way they do cause that way is much faster than doing it the legal way.

I totally agree with you  on your last paragraph. Ever since I saw their message saying unavailable to access on the portal due to maintenance I thought it was going to be a matter of hours, 24 max. And I am still in shock. They’re making it so difficult for us that are doing things the legal way to reach our loved ones, but yet, I just found out people applying for tourist visas can access to it...unbelievable. Shame on them. I kinda want to tell them off (but i wont obviously) on my interview day the frustration I’ve got from USCIS, and NVC on getting a case number after 9 weeks and now this when I had to complete and submit my DS260 and be done -_-

UGH

My understanding and following NVC instructions they need a Police Certificate for each country you’ve resided for more than 6 months after the age of 16.

Maybe call again to hear what another representative says ?

Same question - my mom lived a long time ago in a different country and they only issue police certificates in person to their citizens. So, she is not able to get it. I submitted an explanation instead of the certificate and they accepted it. Now I am worried. Can someone please find it out for sure?

You should call. I called in 4 different occasions because they told me different things each time (if I’m not 100% positive on something I go crazy) so as a spouse: I need police certificates of places I lived for more than 6 months after turning 16, translate them and bring originals to interview. They expire after a year but the current one from the country I’m residing if it’s older than 6 months at the day of interview you need to get a new one. I had to get 4!
