Can i take a picture of my wife and print it on a standard 2 2x2 photo print outs on plain photo for the adjustment of status, or should i just go to the drug store and do it?

There are ways to do it yourself. But I would go to Walgreens or Walmart they have templates built in to their photo systems so that it will be right. Even he white used in the background has to be right or it will be rejected. Cost is minimal in the scheme of things.

Better to go to the drug store and get it done there instead of stressing out over things like lighting, background, exact size, paper quality, etc.

I do it myself, there are lots of apps out there that guide you through making the picture just right as far as facial positioning. Even the DOS website has a photo tool you can use to take a regular photo and size it accordingly. I've actually had drug stores mess up the pictures more often than not (maybe I'm just unlucky), so doing it myself has had much better success.

The downside is, as mentioned, you have to pay close attention to the background you use, etc., to make sure it matches spec, whereas the photo stores have all of that ready to go.

In short, do as you're most comfortable. Whether you take the photo or the drug store, scrutinize it to make sure it meets all requirements.

Those photos have strict requirements......just get it done at Walgreens...and know that they are correctly done.

If you have an idea what you're doing (know how to make sure it's lighted properly and the crop and print it in a correct size) , do it yourself - you'll do better job than Walgreens where some random worker picks up compact camera and shoots your pic.

I always did it myself, printed whole bunch of 2x2 for $.39 at Walgreens ironically (put 4 on 5x7 print and sent over)

Its not just the 2x2 size that is important.. it is the distance from top of head to chin, color of background etc.. That said, there are online software programs that you can down load that give you a template to ensure that you print according to the requirements, and many people have used this successfully.

I did them myself for the I-129F via printing 2 x passport photos on a 5x6 then cutting it by hand. But the requirements are pretty strict so you really have to know what to look for. We decided to use one of the common services others ITT noted for AOS because it wasn't worth the effort vs cost in the end.

I've always done my own passport photos for years. I have never had a problem and I carry many around with me when I travel because a lot of times you go to enter another country by land and they make you do a visa on site ( Cambodia comes to mind) and if you don't have a photo they conveniently can take your picture ( For a Small fee of course), and I'm pretty cheap when I travel so I just carry my own photos. Try out this site below. I use it all the time, and it lets you download a 4x6 Jpeg image with 4 passport 2x2 photos on it. Then you just send it to walmart online one hour photo and you get 4 photos for .15 cents or less. I have used it for passports, visa, CCW permit and multiple other state and federal agencies with no issue.

I mean CVS, Walgreens are great if you want to blow 10-12 bucks. It isn't rocket science, the 10 dollar an hour employees are not Professional photographers by a long shot, and I have never had a photo refused in at least 20 years, and I am far, far from a professional photographer. A little common sense and your good. If you managed to fill out the I129F or any other immigration form by yourself you are more than capable of following instructions.

CVS charges like 10 dollars for the correct sized photos.  They are aware of the very strict requirements.  Just fork out the 10 bucks.  Ever hear of penny wise, pound foolish.

I’ve always wondered why the US doesn’t have passport photo booths like we do in the UK. Not sure what qualifies a checkout kid in CVS as a photographer haha.

Oh, come on, Man!   The site you linked requires self-made photos.....just pay the people who do this for a living...How many Walgreen passport pictures have been rejected? ....My god, some people are so cheap....These photos are important....

A passport photo booth will not ensure you are not wearing earrings, excessive makeup, you are too close or too far from the lens, you are perfectly centered, your ears are not covered, your hair is hanging down over your face too much, you are wearing a scarf, you are smiling too much,  will lit?  I would spend the 10 bucks.  My time is more valuable than to spend 10 minutes downloading an app to make my own photos.  What a waste of time.  But that's just me...
