Name Issue Issue Question

My NOA1 and NOA2 lists me with my married name.  My marriage certificate is signed with my maiden name. Canadian passport has my maiden name on it.  I have not legally done anything to change my name to my married name.  Am I going to have any issues because of this, ie: at the interview, or uploading a copy of my passport and marriage certificate that has my maiden name on it and not my married name?

Did you fill out the aos forms in your married name? That’s most likely why you have NOAs with that name. It won’t be an issue. Just carry your marriage license with you if you are traveling and such to prove that’s you because if you’re getting noas with your married name your greencard will most likely be issued in your married name. And just FYI you don’t technically have to do anything to change your name. I mean you can go to the ss office and get a new ss card and driver’s license at the dmv and whatnot but you’re not required to fill out paperwork just to use your married name.

My Hong Kong passport, my marriage certificate is signed with my maiden name.

When i filled all my forms i use my married name. There's no problem with it.

When i went for my biometric appointment i brought the marriage certificate with me, the lady took a copy of it and everything went well.

Mrs Mary Jones was Ms Mary Smith when she signed her marriage certificate because Mary Smith married John Jones.  That name issue is exactly what is expected.  If your name is now Mary Jones, then you need a Mary Jones Passport and Visa to get a Mary Jones Green Card and live life as Mary Jones.  It is now time to follow through with your name choice.

(Like pushbrk says.  Of course your maiden name is on your marriage certificate.   That was who you were when you got married!)

OP is not doing AOS.
