Please help! My interview was only 5 mins & no paperwork was touched

I just came home from my wife's 1-485 interview in San Antonio, TX.  She was admitted to the US on a K1 visa. We received our interview letter and followed all the instructions, providing everything they requested.  Our packet was ready for them.  When we got into the interview, she asked us our names, our birthdates, identification and my wife's passport/visa.  Then, that was it...interview over!!!  She did not request a single thing from the packet we prepared for them...no pictures, no marriage certificate, NOTHING.  She said she had to review our case and would have an answer by tomorrow.  I have read and re-read forums and everyone at least has them look over their paperwork.  What could this possibly mean?  My wife is a mess over here and I don't know how to help make her feel better.  I am fine because we are a legit couple and have been since 2012.  A worrisome part of this case is that my wife had an 8-month overstay, which they were made aware of in Ciudad Juarez at her K1 visa interview.  They did mention that they wanted to make sure she didn't have a job during those 8 months, which she didn't because she was still in high school.  She left the US IMMEDIATELY after high school graduation at the age of 18 years and 8 months. She had a 3 year bar and that was fulfilled and we gave documentation and proof of that.  I understand that they need to investigate, but WHY have us drive 4 hours to not look at anything?  They did read off the files that they have already received from us.  Sorry I am all over the place with this post....I guess I am a bit worried, as well.

From what I have read, it is normal for the officer to review and check for inadmissibility at the AOS interview.  There is no need to worry.....this sounds completely normal.

It’s not unusual for the officers not to ask for additional documents, it happened on my interview and I was approved just fine (mind you I only sent a copy of my marriage certificate and that’s it).

 

If the officer said they will review the case, they will do it. If they said tomorrow, we’ll, it’s too soon to worry.

 

If there’s anything missing they should issue a rfe.

My recollection is that most of the docs they need they have before the interview.

I had my interview yesterday and the officer didn't ask for anythibg too! Said we were approved, and I signed the removal of condition letter.

He just asked couple questions from the form, yes/no questions and how we met. That's it

My interview was similar, only multiplied by 3 because I have two K-2 kids. We were approved the next day but only found out in a week, the status changed from "My interview was scheduled" to "My card was picked up by USPS", nothing about being approved or the card being produced, must have been something wrong with their website. So, if you don't have any updates today, it doesn't necessarily mean you are not approved. Good luck!

Honestly, I think you'll be fine. If they were more unsure you would have been grilled at the interview. I'm sure you'll get positive news. Keep us updated!

Yeah pretty much this.

If the OP sent plenty of evidence in the initial package, then there would be no reason to go over things they have already seen or ask for more. They wouldn't need to ask for the marriage certificate, because it was a requirement to send in the first place.

You are fine. I'm 99.9% sure to you'll be approved. If they had an issue with something, you'd know because you'd have been questioned about it.

It's a good sign that it took 5 minutes and you were not asked for anything.

Your fiance sounds pretty smart, having left the US immediately after her HS graduation and overstay, and then serving out her ban. She's now doing things the right way and it's very likely that the CO will see that. Good luck the rest of the way!

No worries bout it coz during my interview they never asked any additional docs.  Few questions and that's it, the lady who interviewed us just told us that she will review our case.  Few days after.. we got our visa God bless
