Los Angeles waiting time for an interview

I filed for AOS via marriage to a USC in January 2017.

Field office was Los Angeles.

PD : 1/17/17

Biometrics : 2/15/17 (Just attended scheduled appointment)

EAD Approved : 5/3/17

Interview scheduled notification : 5/4/17 (Interview date 6/7/17)

Interview : 6/7/17 - Received your case is under review letter from IO

Green card approved notification : 6/8/18

Green card delivered : 6/16/18

Total = 150 days from priority date to green card in hand.

My case was not exactly normal as I had previously filed AOS in 1988 with my ex-wife and received an I-551 (green card stamp) in my passport after our interview. We separated and divorced before two years and I never filed for removal of conditions as to be honest I wasn't even aware you could if you were no longer married.

I had been married to my current wife (also USC) for over 10 years and we had just never filed. We self filed, received no RFE's and included all my previous immigration information, SSN, marriage / divorce certificates and over 5 years of joint tax returns. I have no criminal record and all my earnings were always reported to my own SSN (that I received as part of my initial filing).

Our IO was polite and courteous throughout the process and made us feel very much at ease. We remained together for the entire interview.

I think that it is possible that our case was faster than most due to the fact they already had a file on me.

Each and every case is different, so hang in there and your time will come. Be prepared, be thorough and always tell the truth.

Due to the length of our marriage I received a 10 year green card

LA (Los Angeles) is doing a little bit better than LAC (Los Angeles County) right now: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

I became a LPR exactly 1 year ago and the wait for an i-485 interview was only 7 months back then, at the LAC field office.

Reviving this thread as we just found this week that our interview has been scheduled. I got the text and email notifications on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. I was hoping to have received the interview notice already but it hasn't come in yet. Hoping it'll be here on Monday or Tuesday. Will be updating again.

Did contacting your senator help in something? I was looking into reaching out for someone to help me out with my case. I'm just nervous on what to expect and I don't intend to miss my own religious wedding next year.

😰Reading all of this is getting me anxious... Filed in May 2018. 😨
Have out-of-US religious wedding scheduled for April 2019... 😵

Contacting your senator can help with the EAD/AP. But senators have zero power in getting your interview scheduled. If you are waiting for the interview, all your senator can do is ask USCIS if your case is still in line.

For your wedding, you can still make it so long as you have your AP. But if your interview is scheduled at that same time, then you will need to cancel. With immigration, it's best to wait until the entire process is over before scheduling things. None of us get to know when it will end or how long it will take.
