Does being from a country that doesn't have a lot of applicants increase my chances of being selected? I already know that my country is eligible so no problem about that.

If I win the lottery and provide the necessary paperwork after... how long can I stay in my country? I mean, if I dont move there for 2-3 years, will my gc still be valid?

Worst case scenarios: say that I win after trying for a couple of years. Then move to the US and buy a house under a 15-year loan... But the government decides to modify something and I need to leave the country, what happens with the money I already invested in the house?

Thanks!

You have a better chance of being struck by lightening than winning the lottery and it is on the top of the list of visa classes to be tossed out the window so you may not be able to enter for a series of years or even one.  If you win and you pass the qualifications you will get a visa to reside in the US.  You are supposed to start living here after you get the visa.  Staying out too long will  cause issues . If you buy a house and do something to get deported from the US your equity in the house will be the least of your worries.  You shouldn't worry about it unless you are of criminal mind .

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

But that depends on the country, right?

Does it say somewhere how much can I stay in my country? I mean, oficially?

I was thinking that maybe they change the requirements, like having X years of work experience or something like that. Would I have to sell part of the house?

Oh lol hypothetical questions about what may even be a hypothetical visa soon enough

but I’m feeling expansive so I’ll answer

its region, not country that matters for odds

you don’t get a GC at the interview, you get an immigrant visa. If you don’t enter on that visa by expiry (max 6 months), it’s useless. If you get a GC and stay out the US longer than a year, you’re deemed to have abandoned it.

your house scenario makes no sense ... you don’t have to be a resident to own a house. If you have to leave for any reason, you can either (1) keep it and use it for vacations or rent it out (2) sell it.

1. No. Country doesn't matter, there are numerical limits for entire regions.

2. You have 6 months to enter US from time of your medical

3. Money will be all gone should something like that happen.
