Hi everyone,

Working on filling out Form I-129F for my fiancee, who is planning to move to the US from Brazil.

I had initially started on just the form (downloaded from the USICS website). But, after getting a bit nervous, I was going through the process with RapidVisa. Then I looked at a few forum posts one here, and it seems like RapidVisa is really unnecessary.

So, my question; Rapid Visa was asking a lot of questions that do not show up on the actual form (things like the current address for my fiancee's parents, every school she has attended past high school, etc.). Are these questions that are going to come up later in the process? Or are they things we should be looking to include in the cover letter?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I also initially started on RapidVisa then decided to go DIY. Having completed the K-1 process, I see that RapidVisa was asking for things that would later be required on the DS-160 in the embassy stage. The thing about that is the DS-160 appears to be electronic-only now. At least at the embassy we chose, the only option we were given was the online version. So I'm not even sure how RapidVisa would have handled that.

By the way, what ultimately turned me off on RapidVisa was when I emailed them with a simple question ("M fiance only has one name. How should I use that to fill out your forms?") and the person responding didn't seem confident in their answer. That was a big red flag for me. I started googling and decided to DIY. I don't regret it.

Honestly, please just read the instructions for the form, and guidance posted on the government website https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f, there is an example I-129F you can look at to compare with, there are instructions, and a guide.

Everything else you read is going to over complicate everything for you, unless you really have a specific query that's outside of the norm.

Relax and read the correct information, and take it one step at a time.

The questions about the school will come up on the DS160 after you receive approval of your petition

Hello there,

As other folks mentioned, you can do the process yourself, everything is on the instructions sheet, https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf

everything is very clear and the form on itself is also easy to fill up, the most important thing for me is to answer  all questions honestly.

Companies like the one you mentioned are processing teams and sometimes make things look more difficult than what they really are; not even a lawyer is required for this process. Just trust yourself and gather all the documents they ask for and once again be honest about the information you fill the form with.

If any doubt just ask people here is willing to help. Good luck.
