So after a year and four months waiting for news on my AOS, I got an RFE.
They want me to send them a new medical exam (because it took them over a year to process my papers, so the one I submitted is not valid anymore). I have to do this by August 18.
Any advice on this?? What tests are they gonna do?
I'm in AUSTIN, TX Anybody knows of a good surgeon in Austin who speaks Spanish (my vaccine records are in Spanish) and it's not super expensive???

Also, my letter says "You must provide this info in order for us to make a final decision on your case". Does that mean they waived my interview?

Do you know if they want a full on medical or just your vaccination records. As long as you filed AOS within a year of your first medical you should be fine. Maybe you had some vaccinations that were not complete? Did you send the DS-3025 vaccination record from your first medical? If they just need vaccinations you may be able to get your vaccinations transcribed by one of the authorized civil surgeons onto a I693  I believe it is for vaccination records. That should only set you back 100-150 dollars. If you need a full medical find a authorized Civil Surgeon near you ( There is a guide on USCIS website) and get the full medical done to the tune of 300-400 dollars. Even though you might not need a full on medical sometimes they make mistakes and RFE people on it. What I think is happening is they are losing the medical you turned in at POE in the folder you brought with you, and Just ask for another medical. That is why when you AOS you try to add a copy of your DS-3025 from your first medical and even then some get an RFE for the DS-3025 not being on the I693 form and vice versa.

4. Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination And Vaccination Record

The Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record must be submitted with the AOS application. The Form I-693 is filled out and certified by a civil surgeon who is authorized by USCIS to carry out medical examinations for immigration purposes.

Most AOS applicants must undergo a complete medical examination (which involves a full physical examination and blood tests for several communicable diseases) and must verify that they have received all required vaccinations. The civil surgeon must also administer any vaccinations that have not been received or verified by the applicant.

In the case of K1 visa holders who already had their medical examination before the visa interview, the civil surgeon may not have to repeat the entire medical exam. In most cases, the civil surgeon must simply certify and submit the Vaccination Record Supplement.

This above is why it is tricky. says you need the I693 to send with your AOS packet, but tons of people get away with their DS-3025 instead of the I693, so hopefully like it says above you might not have to do the whole exam.

Thank you! Yes, they specifically say in the letter that I need to go to a civil surgeon and do a new medical exam. I think it's because the one I provided with my app. (which included the DS-3025) is not valid anymore because it's been over a year. So I'm going to take the full medical. Better safe than sorry! And also, that's what it says in the letter. :)

Thanks for the link!!
