Approved K1 received today - Police Certificate included separately!?

Hi All,

I was approved for my K1 visa last week and collected my passport today from the courier in central London.

Upon opening the package to retrieve my passport I checked to see the envelope I must hand in at POE was there (it was), however, I noted my police certificate and SAR was included separately in the package as well.

I may not be up to date on things but I'm almost certain the police documents should be included inside the envelope that I had in at POE. Does this seem correct?

FYI - the envelope itself is still completely sealed and there's no evidence of it being opened. It just seems like they forgot to add the certificate and SAR in to the envelope and just bunged it in separately. I'm worried this might cause me issues at POE next week.

Has anyone had similar issues?

Just got off the phone to a lady at the Embassy in London that assured me the package is fine the way it has been sent and for added peace of mind I can take the police certificates with me to have on hand at POE if needed.

I also sent an email via the Embassy contact form so fingers crossed I get written confirmation of the above and not conflicting information. Will keep this thread posted for anyone in a similar situation.

If you have anything Criminal noted on your SAR, you will need that again for other immigration purposes. Keep it safe until you finish naturalization. The embassy just forgot to hand back your originals. There will be a copy in the files. Did you get your birth certificate handed back?

Thanks for the info! Yes they returned my birth certificate at interview.

Mine was the same. I'm not worried!

Thanks for sharing - I realise now this is normal procedure!

The Embassy emailed me back today and instructed me to "travel with your police certificates and SAR documents in the case a CBP official requests to see it."

I called the number listed on the website at the bottom of the page (underneath the Embassy address): [44] (0)20 7499-9000.

There are a bunch of options so I just held for the operator!

It took 9 days from my interview to receive the visa (I collected in person from the DX Depot in central London).
