Anticipating the NOA2 here within the next few weeks, and trying to wrap up the Packet 3 info so I'm ready to roll as soon as possible.   Thought I'd seen these questions answered, but cannot find them now.

1.   What is the soonest can I process the DS-160/payment?

2.   Case number from NVC is used for the DS-2000?

3.   Are we good with providing photocopy of only the information page of the beneficiary passport  for Packet 3?   (or copy the entire book?)

4.  Thought I'd read where someone suggested sending Packet 3 into the Embassy upon NVC completion date.   Anyone have experience with that?

Many thanks.

1.   What is the soonest can I process the DS-160/payment?     You can complete the DS-160 form as soon as you receive your NVC case number. After you have completed that you do the GSS registration and you get the payment info when that is finished.

2.   Case number from NVC is used for the DS-2000? Do you mean the Ds-2001 ?You use the NVC case number, her email address and the mailing address that the visa will be sent to. Email is used to send her the appointment notice.

3.   Are we good with providing photocopy of only the information page of the beneficiary passport  for Packet 3?   (or copy the entire book?) My fiance provided only the information page. She had no issues

4.  Thought I'd read where someone suggested sending Packet 3 into the Embassy upon NVC completion date.   Anyone have experience with that? i would wait until the case was delivered to the embassy, when you check your case status it will say "ready", that's when you know it has been delivered to the embassy.

Many thanks.

I would suggest you get the police report now if you haven't. It takes about 2 weeks for delivery and is already translated to English

Many thanks for the confirmation on these issues John951.   Yeah, police report took about a month, but then again she only paid the required fee, not the bribe for expedited service.    We have everything else ready to go for Packet 3, so that's why I wanted to get a jump on the remaining issues.

Good info on the "ready" signal.  So you are saying, as soon as it shows "ready", we're good to send Packet 3 to embassy, correct?   Seems it will help shave a week or two according to the timelines I'm seeing for others.    What site do you check for that status?

Yes, when it says "ready" your fiance will get the packet 3 letter a week or so later, so ready means it was delivered and processed by the embassy. So send in your packet 3 that you have ready to go then to shave a week of waiting. After the embassy receives your packet 3 they will email your fiance her appointment date and time and give her instructions for packet 4 and medical examination. Also they will not schedule your appointment until you have paid the ds-160 fee

Quick question on this John951....you mentioned paying as soon as I finish the DS160 and do the GSS registration.   So it's possible to pay while the case is still with NVC?    I thought this was correct, but someone (another country) mentioned they needed ready status to submit payment.

I've read you can complete the DS-160 after you get the case number from the NVC from @Greenbaum. As for payment of GSS I can't say for sure if you can pay before the embassy has received the case from NVC. But for GSS payment you need the DS-160 confirmation number.

I paid after they received it. I guess you could email the embassy and ask if you can make payment before they have it.

I have given you the information for processing through Thailand and within those links/information is the following and I QUOTE. Please read the information within the links and I am sure ALL your questions will be answered. Thailand has a great P3 letter that you can follow.

CONFIRMATION PRINTOUT OF GLOBAL SUPPORT STRATEGY (GSS) REGISTRATION:

Each applicant must create his/her own profile and register his/her mailing address with the GSS system at www.ustraveldocs.com/th. Please print out your GSS Confirmation Page showing UID Barcode and mail it with other documents to the Embassy. Please note that your interview will be cancelled and rescheduled if you do not have a completed GSS delivery address registration.

Here is the links/information for Thailand in the event you didn't copy them from my other posts on this topic.

Once you move to "Received" you can send your Packet 3 to the Embassy and they will schedule the interview.  The BKK interviews seem to be scheduled for 2 weeks after they receive your Packet 3.  (The embassy selects the date and time for you, but you can contact them if you need to reschedule).   You will need to complete the medical before the interview and it takes a day or 2 for the results of the medical to become available.

Thanks GB, I do see the P3 instructions to pay fee and my thought was we could complete the DS160 and pay fee as soon as we had the case number from NVC.   This other guy mentioned he had to wait until "Ready" status to pay the fee in Columbia.   Which is correct for Thailand?

Just to confirm the next steps........the DS-160 is the first step after getting case number.   Based on the instructions, looks like second step is the GSS and then the payment using a printout of the GSS.   Is this correct and can I do all that as soon as we get the case number?    (I mean before "ready" status?)

Is the GSS "registration" something we get after doing the application on the below site?    (Because my fiancee already registered and she is ready to do the application as soon as we can, but she did not get a "registration" confirmation for signing up.....she got only a one line confirmation email.)

this is what I'm seeing on the ustraveldocs.com application..........I did not want to go further for fear of messing something up on our application.

Go to the sub-forum for your region and get acquainted with others who are going through Thailand.

As soon as you have case number from NVC you can send Packet 3 to the embassy. I have a Lawyer in thailand and we did this. Than instead of waiting to send when it says received in Thailand you will just get your interview date within about a week. It cuts off some time doing it this way. You Do Not have to wait until it says received to send packet 3 to the Embassy @DanielPlainview

Thanks BigWill.   First time hearing about this.   Our plan was to send "Same Day" service upon "Received" or "Ready" status.   Good info that you sent it in advance .....I'm seeing you sent it 11 days ahead of arrival at Embassy.    And interview 5 weeks after receipt by Embassy.   Seems that's the going average.

Now a very good case for conflicting views. My answer was drawn from someone else who about six months fell victim to eat scheduling. So @DanielPlainview it's your turn yo roll the dice. Curious what his experience will be.
