While this is about homeless people, I don't know how even a middle income family even affords to live in cities like SF/Seattle. These cities are going to end up being for the rich and poor.

A middle class income is about $100k in SF.

Based on the stories I have been reading, not really sure why anyone would want to live in San Francisco considering how dirty the city has become.  Michigan has a lot going for it and always has.  I could do without the length of the Winters, but if we believe all the Climate Change folks that will be diminishing over time and very soon.  Regardless, most areas of the country has positive aspects except for maybe Alabama and Mississippi.

What’s wrong with Alabama?

"The income needed to afford a median-priced home in every San Francisco Bay Area county"

income needed to afford median priced home San Francisco Bay Area

I was just going off of personal experiences and not actual data. So thanks for the data.

It will get you a room in apartment that is about it, only a room.

It's probably worse now, but here is an article from 2017 which is quite sad for those living in SF.

"In the United States, a family of four is considered "low income" if it makes about $24,000. In San Francisco, however, a family of that size is now considered "low income" even if it makes $105,350."

Oh it's bad trust me. I used to work in a remote office in Pasadena CA but our home base was in Menlo Park or the Bay Area if you don't know where it is. They could not keep people in that job at all so they kept asking us to move up there if they paid for us to move(we never did). They would offer them $70k a year to start which sounds good until you find out that it will only you get a 1 bedroom if that.

I was doing ok making $80k a year in LA and would never ever move up to that literal fece infested streets.

Well, your joke hurt me. Both my feelings, in fact. Hopefully you will find it in your heart to self-report.

But yeah, Alabama doesn’t really have much to offer, except cheap taxes and cheap land.  Lots of big business there because of the low prices.  Airbus, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes Benz to name a few.  And a whole lot of blacks and whites living in harmony.  Minus the love bugs and mosquitoes and gnats, not too terrible of a place to live, if one likes warm weather.

My first time in that parts of the US was when I went to Ft. Benning for airborne school. I rode the local bus to get around and you're right about it being whole lot of black and white folks. It was quite an eye opening experience as an Asian person.
