I did OPT to EB2- NIW (chemistry PhD) 6 yrs ago. Make sure to hire the lawyer specialize EB cases.

You have to create the petition in certain way that people at the USCIS can understand your achievement.

Also make sure to file petition at Texas Center Instead of Vermont because TX center had more relaxed understanding of EB criteria. (this may changed now)

Send your CV to lawyers specializing  EB case for free consultations. I would consult with 2-3 lawyers since it is free. You can pick lawyer if you pay yourself.

Good ones won't take your case if it is not winable case. Bad one's will take case regardless to make some money.

I did use MARK HARRINGTON in Houston TX and referred him 4 friends for their EB-2 NIW case. He told 3 of my friends (PhD) with recommendation to apply under EB2-NIW and they all retained him and got their GC. Unfortunately, He did not recommend 4th friend (PhD) for EB-2 NIW case since his achievement was not strong enough to win EB2-NIW. So he did not retain him and went back to the home country. He only charged me his fee $2000 (half up front) + USCIS  filing fee and $ 2000 (after I-140 was approved). I did not apply concurrently for I-485.

So I paid him $1500 + USCIS filing fee for I-485 per person after I-140 was approved.

I would also consider Victoria Chen for the EB case.

Thanks. Indeed. We use Victoria Chen and our I140 is approved after 6 months upon priority date for NIW. She offered us the approve or refund package so if the petition rejected, the lawyer fee would be fully refinded. I recommend her. We may use them again for I485.

Anyone here self filed I485?

I would use her for I-485 again.

I just want be sure that everything goes smooth if something happens.

$1500 + $800 additional fee pp is not bad. Cheap insurance for this difficult time.

I485 can be premium processed? Not sure what the pp stands for

Can you avoid filing in Nebraska versus Texas if you live and work in NY? How do you do that?

Why would you do that? Nebraska has shorter processing time. Just curious.

For that question, check with your lawyer. When I spoke to mine months ago, I did not think I have a choice. It was based on my residence address.

Also, I am in the process of filing an NIW petition with klasko. Does anyone have an opinion on them?

I don't have an opinion. Ask if they have a good records of approved petitions.

I think so to. Someone mentioned choosing one or the other based on wait times but I don't think you can do that

I live in the area covered by Nebraska center but I hired the lawyer in Huston TX.

He E-filed my case in TX center. He knew how to file at TX center regardless of where I live.

Consultation is free. Why not ask them?

They should tell you where they are going to file. At least my lawyer told me where he was going to file and how he was going to file my case.

I think Victoria Chen does same thing.

Get multiple consultations ask lots of question. (How much leg work you have to do etc.....)  Drafting recommendation letter is big one. Will they draft it for you vs You will draft it based on examples....

I drafted 7 myself based on examples he gave me to reference then lawyer edited to look more professional.

I think VC does everything for you.

thanks so much! in terms of letters, they already had done most of my letters for the O visa and we are reusing those letters. the technical writer drafted three extra letters for the niw. I will go with the same firm due to discount/ease considering they have most of my case already prepared. just wanted to know people's opinions.

very interesting that you may be able to file elsewhere than where you live. what state is your lawyer based at? I don't know much about this portion of things. i will look into it in my case.

thanks again!
