i am still waiting from NVC letter. my question : is there anything i can prepare or do something at my end to save time before i get response from NVC ? are there any list of known document which i can prepare or collect in the meanwhile.

just do not want to waste time after i hear anything from NVC.

Hi,

Here is the link which you need to be looking at now to get an idea what needs to be done:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved.html

It lays out all the steps for the NVC process. You can definitely start collecting the documents that you will need to submit with the application to NVC. You can get an idea of the documents from these links:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-4-collect-financial-documents.html

a quick question  :

is the English registered nikkah nama is required during interview ? we only have urdu nikkah nama and nadra english marriage certificate

can anyone suggest on that ?

It will be good to have your urdu nikah nama translated in English by a translator.

As per NVC:

"All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that:

  • The translation is accurate, and
  • The translator is competent to translate."

Had our interview on March 18, immediately accused us of marriage fraud.

  • How did you meet? Kept asking how did we meet through facebook? (No you're lying, if you don't speak truth you'll be banned forever of entering the US) *note: this CO could not move past this
  • Why would you marry a woman 15 years older than you? (commented on how I have a daughter close to his age. Kept smiling and laughing at the idea of us even being together)
  • She came and met you while she was still married to her husband? (Questioned my meeting him while I was legally separated from my ex husband who was no longer in my house anymore and questioned our communicating during that separation)
  • Why was it a court marriage? Why not a traditional one? (CO smiled and laughed at the answer of my husband's grandfathers passing, Eid celebrations going on, and prior family wedding that immediate family was already committed to)
  • Where did you travel? (CO questioned how he paid to travel to these places but didn't invite any of my family and friends over here to meet or for our wedding and should have used the money on them)
  • Where did your wife go to high school? (My husband would not have remembered that bc he doesn't know the area like a local does to have remembered that, plus I've never seen anyone get asked this question for us to worry of getting asked it)
  • Where does your wife work and what does she do? (he said at walmart and is the dept manager of bakery and the CO response was "what's that?")
  • Why did you marry a christian lady? When did she convert? (I reverted before marriage and it says under religion on nadra certificate Islam)
  • How many times has she come to see you and where did you go and stay? (Husband told him Lahore, Islamabad, Murree. Was questioned why Lahore, why all the places we have been)
  • Why hasn't she gone to meet your family? (Husband said it isn't safe to take me to Quetta, that's why. I've seen where another was questioned for putting their wife in danger by taking her there. So we are wrong in both ways of doing it. I do video calls with the family)
  • Were you a refugee in/from another country at any time? (What stupid question was this?)

In the end, they took his medical, did not ask for my i864 or tax transcripts for 2017 or 2018 (which shows he is on my tax returns with a legal ITIN number). Did not give any 221g paper. Did not keep his passport. Was told goodbye, your case looks like fraud to us, we are sending back to NVC

Hi,

In my case, I did not have to upload the documents but I mailed it to NVC. But this link might be helpful:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-6-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html

You can look at the steps 4 and 5  on NVC site to find out about what documents may be required.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to know from anyone who has been to the interview yet if you bought in your original i864 from your spouse.. I have read that the ink signature is no longer required, however, I'm scared and want to make sure

When it gets back to USCIS they can re-affirm the petition and you can add evidence there. Be clear and concise with the answers.  Ask us here for suggestions.   Once it is send back to the consulate they can not refuse it for the same reason.

Best wishes.
