Hello,

I am expected to receive my Immigrant visa next month, however, at this time, I don't have the intentions to move immediately. Is it okay to report to port of entry near my home & and then return back into Canada the same day?  I do plan to have couple of trips across the border so I believe I can use the stamp on my passport to re-enter till I get my card.

Technically yes... you must actually enter into the US... perhaps go out of the buiding before you turn around..,

Obviously. I was mentioning if they've a requirement that an immigrant has to stay in the country for X number of days or would they create an issue at my next entry

No.. technically you could cross and return the same day... was more tongue in cheek 😁

It may be an issue be with repeated stays out over 6 months and short stays in USA in between.. over 12 months out will be a problem.. over 2 years out without a reentry permit will see the loss of LPR status. Many new immigrants have one or more trips back to finalise things .. but you should have an end date in mind if questioned, as maintaining ongoing overseas employment .. different from finishing off the job or contract.. might bring into question your residency in the US

Entering every couple of months isn't an issue. I also have houses in USA so can establish the ties to USA, however might take months before I make the switch.

You might want to make sure you get a state drivers licence in your first or second trip,  House ownership alone isnt a strong domicile evidence.. after all, you have obviously owned property for a while without being a resident.. also if the CBP officer at POE ever gives you a warning, or "the talk" about residence not visitor., then you had better plan for the next entry to the THE one...

Issues would be, once you're an LPR you are no longer entitled to any Canadian benefits including healthcare.  You will no longer be a resident of Canada. So you'll need to pay fo private health insurance. You will need to change how you as are paid if you are working.  You will also be required to pay taxes differently if you sell a home or car.  Your vehicle or home insurance may also change as a non-resident.

Think carefully about activating your visa.  You have 6 months from the medical date generally speaking.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.  - Dr. Seuss
