Delaying K1 interview, how long do we have?

I have had my medical and was about to have my interview but we’ve hit a few problems. Namely, my partner just lost his job and the timing could not be worse.

I have already paid the interview fee and understand this is none refundable yet the money held for 1 year to rebook.

The medical however I know is only valid for just 6 months.

There are few details on the official sites about what happens when circumstances change and how and if you can delay things and for how long.

Can anyone advise? We dont have the option for a co-sponsor so need him to get back into work and back on his feet and rather than rushing to put financial pressure on before AOS we are trying to plan sensibly and want to know our options so we dont have our case closed and have to start over.

Thanks

They give you a year to get the visa sorted if needed. Parts of your medical will expire after six months and you will have to redo and pay Knightsbridge more money, but I don't think it is the full fee. Namely TB clearance is only good for 6 months and that may be all you pay for...and maybe a tacked on charge for their admin work to prepare and courier again.  Keep moving the appointment out for now. When you cross six months from the medical, make a new appointment for the redo.
