He means that some people get an interview letter that says bring a new medical and then when they get there no one asks for the medical.

 

 

The only way to be sure there are no delays is to do the medical again before the interview and bring it with you. If they need it you will have it.

Oh I see but if the Interview letter says nothing about I-693 Medical than bring the old copy?

 

Generally, what should I be bringing with me? My lawyer will be there too.

 

Will I also have to pay for the exam again? I am assuming I won't have to take the immunization shots again since they they don't expire right?

The only guaranteed way to avoid an RFE for a new medical (I-693) is to have one on you for the interview. I wish it was more consistent, but I've seen people not get asked for a new medical and I have seen people get an RFE for a new one. Typically, from what I've noticed, doing AOS from outside a K-class visa is asked for one if the medical is over 1 year old at the time of the interview.

 

I suggest bringing a copy of your AOS packet (in case any forms are missing), along with a certified marriage certificate (if you sent a photocopy originally). I would also suggest bringing in new evidence of a bona fide marriage since you filed - trips spent together, evidence of commingling of finances, being beneficiaries for insurance and retirement, wills/living wills, etc...whatever you have (don't worry about what you don't have).

 

Yes, you would need to pay for the Civil Surgeon to complete the medical and sign off on the paperwork, if you need to do a new medical. Vaccinations shouldn't need to be redone, but just make sure they get recorded properly in the I-693 (Part 9).

What if my interview letter does not mention I-693?  My AOS is not based on marriage.

Ah, sorry. I thought it was based on marriage. The rest of the the comments still apply (i.e. having a copy of the AOS packet just in case).

You should be fine, but the only guarantee is to have a new I-693 ready. Personally, I would not do a new medical unless requested and accept the slight risk of an RFE. But that's just me...there isn't a right or wrong way to approach it IMO.

What if the interview letter does not state about medical but the interviewer requests a new one on the day?

If you have a new medical, you would present it. If not, they would issue an RFE for one.

Everything necessary for the I-693. The vaccinations piece just needs to be transcribed/recorded...no need for new vaccinations.

USCIS case tracker updated my I-485. 

7/19/18 confirming that they received my RFE response. 

 

This was a RFIE not RFE though. Not that it matters but does that mean my clock won’t re-start?

 

I am trying to find when others were approved after they submitted just the RFIE for BC with ET.
