He may be referring to the fact that whether or not a K1 visa holder will be allowed renter to the "States" from a territory is somewhat under debate.  The USCIS clearly states on its website that travel to the territories are fine once an I-485 has been filed, even without AP.  But this does not address a K1 visa holder that has not submitted for AOS.  Also the US CBP  sees this as an arrival from foreign country.  This is the quote from their website regarding travel to and from U.S. territories..

"Entry requirements for non-U.S. citizens are the same as for entering the United States from any foreign destination"

Although it is unlikely that a custom/immigration official will check someone coming in from a Territory, it can happen. and things could get complicated.

I wouldn't risk it.

What other evidence needs to be done?  We video chat every night, I have been to DR three times since we met I always stay with his family there. I have a Facebook with our pictures posted and linked to his & his family.  Every time I go there I take a lot of pictures.  I am looking into wedding venues but OMG in NJ they are so expensive.  I am thinking Vegas where it is cheaper or St. Thomas (VI).  I am not quite sure what other evidence is needed.  Please let me know.

This applies to the consulate interview and more to the following interview when you file the adjustment of status, but of the pictures you do have, if you have any of both of you with his family or friends, I'd bring those too. We brought tons of printed pictures of the two of us but at the interview they wanted additional proof that I was integrated into my spouses life and vice versa, and they requested pictures of both of us with each others family and friends. We printed out screenshots of our phone call records with the length of time we had talked, plane tickets, my wife was asked about my parents background and where they were born, and emails we had written.

Definitely agree with Loren Y, don't leave the continental US. Once he gets accepted into the country, you can't leave until you receive your conditional green card or advanced parole.

Good luck though!

I must agree with you. I filed mu paperwork January 16, 2018. The time is too, too, long. And from my understanding, the 5 to 7 months is only for the USCIS portion. Once it is approved, it takes additional time to get to the NVC and the to Embassy.  So hang in there. I am praying and trusting in God that we will hear something by the end of July.

We applied in July of 2017.

We just received our NOA2 at the beginning of June 2018...

Wow that's crazy, and your beneficiary is from a low risk country right? (Canada)

We have a poster here who waited 3 years for his NOA2, they made a thread about it, it was insane. As an 8 month+ waiter so far, reading your story and others helps me to be more patient.

Welcome to waiting world. We got ours in 6 months or so. But after we did AOS we had to wait 3 months after the interview because the airport lost her packet apparently.

It sucks but you have to do it. I'd suggest getting married and filing a spousal visa because waiting for the adjustment sucks! In hindsight I would have done it that way.

Come on already. Trump has nothing to do with this. Why everyone is blaming him? He's actually making things better for the country. Be thankful for the fact that you can do K-1 process at all. FYI, I've been waiting for my wife to come for almost 2 years. So sit tight and just wait. We all go through this.

OMG! calm down! No one is blaming Trump.  The OP was just asking if the processing time is longer since he got in the office.  Sheesh! No need to be rude.  We're all in this together and it is a rather long process whether you're waiting 5 months or 2 years.

I agree. This is not just a forum to exchange information but also a place where we can find comfort and support during the long months of waiting. Not everyone is strong, and not everyone is strong all the time. So be patient and understanding and support each other. Next time it might be you who breaks down and needs to rant. We're all here for each other.

I second this.  Very sad to see many people on here being rude and lacking of compassion.  I thought this was a forum to ask questions and get support.

I don't see anyone rude or lacking compassion. I see people who have waited much longer than 5-7 months putting the proper prospective on just how long this visa journey will take, along with correcting those who sill think this process somehow started under the current administration. One of the issues is every other day someone makes a thread blaming Trump for their wait times. As if getting a green card was some easy nice simple procedure before he came.

I would say December would be more likely. Good luck on your journey!

I think many people forget that everyone has their own way of dealing with things.  Just because some people can wait for almost 2 years and have no issue with it doesn't mean the next person can do the same.  This forum I thought was to gain immigration info as well as getting support from people who are in the same boat.   I said rude and lacking compassion because I saw many people acting as if the OP shouldn't have complained that her visa was taking so long and then acting as if they were blaming Trump for the long process.  The OP merely asked a simple question.  Also, for the record I am not saying everyone on this thread is rude or lacking compassion, just a few that I saw. :D
