The 5-7 months wait at the USCIS is a really long time.  I have the app on my phone and I check it everyday.  My application has been waiting for 88 days now (accepted April 24, 2018). The application check date is only on December 17, 2017 (today is July 15, 2018).   ITs so long!  Has the process gotten longer since Trump has been in Office?  Also is the USCIS processing times include the NVC or is that time frame separate from the USCIS processing times?   I really wish that he could visit me here instead of me flying to Dominican Republic.  I am a school teacher and I cannot take off days at a time to visit but he could from his job.   I really miss him and we do talk every night but I really miss hugging him.   I have not had to get a lawyer and it is my impression that you only reach out to one if you have had a problem with the application and I have heard that they cannot make the process go any faster.

Does anyone else feel like their application is in Limbo or collecting dust on top of a shelf somewhere?

Yes, i mistakenly said that we have been waiting 243 days. It really is 252 days.

I didn't take it as the OP was blaming Trump. Just suggesting that more people are going through the process to become legal so that they won't be deported in light of Trump's policies (regardless of whether one thinks they are good or bad they are likely impacting behavior).

No longer directed at Springrain but in general. This is a discussion board yet  when someone shares a frustration, opinion, etc. people are acting like they're doing something out of place. They're complaining, being ungrateful, etc. I'm new here and I see this a lot. Isn't that why this board exists? To discuss things. I actually agree with the OP 5-7 months is a long time. I wish it were shorter too. Glad someone else feels how I feel and we have the space to share those thoughts with each other.

I do not thing anything was being implied, but 5-7 months is not a long wait, there are people who wait years.

also, I see alot of people mentioning Trump and the current administration, these immigration laws have been around for a while, they just were not enforced like they are now.

5-7 months for an approval can still happen but it is highly unlilely, I noticed then when my wife and I filed our I-130 petition with uscis, there must have been about 150+ others at the same time. We filed November 2016 so there is a slow down just because of the shear volume of petitions.

by the way, these are not all of Trumps policys either, these same policys are from previous administrations dating back to Clinton. But again, they were never heavily enforced until now.

unfortunally the immigration is the one thing that none of us have the abilty to speed up. It moves at it’s own pace. Just be patient, everyones time will come. Think positive and remember the end goal..... to have our loved ones with us.

According to our timeline: Your I-129f was approved in 217 days from your NOA1 date.

We all understand the frustration and wanting answers now now now, but have patience as best as you can. Start saving as much money as you can. Start making room for him in your life, apartment, car, anything. Just keep yourself busy, because there is ALWAYS more waiting to do with this process. It is not short OR fun.

It is very frustrating. But it doesn't sound like you are outside of general processing times right now. And no, it isn't because of Trump. People have waited double that amount of time in past years. These processes fluctuate, and often. There are a lot of factors, and not just/necessarily the political climate.

It's hard, but you have to be patient. Stressing out over the waiting time will only increase your stress, and this is not the last thing you will be waiting on between now and naturalization. Just use this time wisely. Research and prepare for what's next as much as possible. The more together you and your information are, the quicker each stage will transition for you.

Håll ut, y'all.

I agree. This is not just a forum to exchange information but also a place where we can find comfort and support during the long months of waiting. Not everyone is strong, and not everyone is strong all the time. So be patient and understanding and support each other. Next time it might be you who breaks down and needs to rant. I used to feel that way, back when I first filed. I got to the point where it was frustrating to see people demand information or complain about how slow the process was when the information about processing times is so easy to find.

We're all in it together, but asking people to be self educating is not a negative thing.

What other evidence needs to be done?  We video chat every night, I have been to DR three times since we met I always stay with his family there. I have a Facebook with our pictures posted and linked to his & his family.  Every time I go there I take a lot of pictures.  I am looking into wedding venues but OMG in NJ they are so expensive.  I am thinking Vegas where it is cheaper or St. Thomas (VI).  I am not quite sure what other evidence is needed.  Please let me know.

You can't get married abroad. Your fiancée can't leave the US after entering the US on her K-1 until she has an AP (you file for this as part of the AOS filing, after you are married, it takes 4-6 months to receive it).

Were you implying that St. Thomas isn't a part of the US or am I totally misunderstanding?  The USVI should be a fine location for a wedding.  I went to a relative's on St. John and it was really lovely.

Really, Thank you I appreciate the quick response.  I will definitely check it out.  It does not seem like anyone has been updating the Timelines webpage on this site.

I think most of us do update our timeline. If you want any help you should keep your timeline updated. Otherwise, we have to guess what people are talking about. Not saying you don’t. Just saying I wish everyone did.  We have all been waiting a long time. If you want to be in the game, you have to play by the rules. It’s a hard game, but the rewards are worth it!  Best of luck to you two.

There have been issues in the last for people on k1 visas coming back into the us from the usvi. It’s really a Grey area and a risk that is not worth taking imho. Google it and you will see some articles on this subject.

He may be referring to the fact that whether or not a K1 visa holder will be allowed renter to the "States" from a territory is somewhat under debate.  The USCIS clearly states on its website that travel to the territories are fine once an I-485 has been filed, even without AP.  But this does not address a K1 visa holder that has not submitted for AOS.  Also the US CBP  sees this as an arrival from foreign country.  This is the quote from their website regarding travel to and from U.S. territories..

"Entry requirements for non-U.S. citizens are the same as for entering the United States from any foreign destination"

Although it is unlikely that a custom/immigration official will check someone coming in from a Territory, it can happen. and things could get complicated.
