Not everyone who has the potential to make 60k can be let into our country, because frankly, that would be near anyone who put some effort in.

I do not think anyone who put some effort in would be able to make 60,000 per year. At least you should have a computer science degree to make that much through an entry level job.

I'm good up to 1000% of the poverty level, could maybe even swing 2000% if I include my assets, let them jack it up, I'm in it to win it!!!! It needs to be a higher level in my opinion. I mean 20,575 is the 125% mark for 2018 for 2 people. Even living on Ramen noodles and in a cardboard box ( In a nice area), it would be hard to swing. Should be around 32k to 35k minimum for 2 people. And I have lived on only 20k a year, and don't wish that on anyone. It's doable, but it's not pretty.

So pretty much all teachers are out then? Not everyone makes 1000% of poverty level which is well over 6 figures. Congratulations on your success but its kind of selfish to set standards based on if it effects you or not. Everyone should have an equal and legal right to opportunities here if they follow the rules and do things the right way.

Not really. If you do desktop support you will start around $50-55k.

I think what he meant was that yes the levels do need to be raised. There was a poster earlier this week wondering if he could live in a homeless shelter during the process. Because apparently he made more than the required amount but not enough to live in his high COL area.

So I was right. You are not an immigrant. Just because your mother laid her egg - you, in this country does not make you superior to anyone. Stop telling people what to do. You are full of....

No, I am a natural born USC. My wife is the immigrant who came here Legally and does not feel threatened at all. I have lived and travelled around the world working for the USA when I was in the USMC and as a civilian.

Taking home $61,420 on average, high school teachers make salaries comparable to those of elementary school teachers ($59,020), middle school teachers ($59,800) and school counselors ($57,620). Salaries vary a little more for other professionals who work within a school system.

How does a teacher not make over 32k? My friend is a damn Janitor at one of the local High schools and brings home over 40k a year. I do his taxes!

and Maybe I overstated, I just did the math I'm only at 500% the poverty level,  with assets though I could hit that 1000% with owned property and investment accounts.

I saw that poster and agreed it was a bit silly. But telling people they can't bring their spouses in America because they don't have enough income is Unamerican in its own right.

I came here legally too and have been maintaining my legal status as a student. I pay 50,000+ tuition fees every year to the university. But I still have a right to feel what I feel.

Not all immigrants who are frustrated with the system is illegal. For the record, I do not support illegal immigration.

Agree. My husband qualified but only in 2017 was he able to have a job where he was not discriminated because of his race and finally given a decent wage.

I never said because you are pro-Trump you cannot be on this site. I just said you don't sound like an immigrant then why are you using a site where a lot of intending immigrants are discussing their petitions. Learn how to read first before telling me what I am saying is bs. That makes what you say complete bs.

So only immigrants can come on this site now? I already said this site helped us quite a bit and so I have stuck around to help other people going through the process. All the while you will be gone in a month if that. You have a inflammatory headline so I took a peek and I think this will be a gem come morning time.

I asked you to go back and reread the memos not a propaganda piece from a site that's main theme is resistance to Trump.

It should be raised. Did you also see the one a couple days ago where someone asked if they could file a waiver to waive the AOS fee after getting married on K1 because he couldn't afford it!? What?!

Why don't you go back and read the post we already had on this topic. If you will read it I will post it here for you.

I am a graduate student myself while working full time. So kudos to you for that.

Exactly my point. I will admit I took a loan for my wife's AOS because we moved cross country right after we got married. So finances were tight then.

But that is what the current immigration law is saying. This is not something said by a racist or something. Under the current US immigration law, if a USC does not make at least $20575 annually for a household of 2, he or she cannot sponsor the spouse, unless a joint sponsor or more than one joint sponsors could be found. OR the intending immigrant could use their assets, which has to be 5 times or 3 times the difference between actual income and the required income, depending on if the immigrant is an immediate relative of the USC or not.

The law is saying if you and your spouse are poor, you cannot bring in your foreign-born spouse.
