You have to understand that the people who interviewed your family know what they are doing. It has now been 2 months and your case is still being processed. Now your brother will have to request his passport back. The CO tried to inform you that this process will take some time but your brother was insistent on them taking his passport.

We understand that this is a stressful time for your family but you have to understand that these people are doing their jobs. You can't force them to speed up everything.

It has been said over and over again that all you should do know is wait. Nobody here knows exactly how long it will take. It could take a few more weeks or it could take a few more months.

Be patient. Your time will come.

My brother took his passport back on 10-August-2018 and he is now in Qatar. Can you explain what is the process after asking for information? My father’s age is 65 and he hardly uses any social media platforms.

I'm not sure why whether he uses social media or not is relevant to your question?

For the AP to move forward, he must submit the information requested.

After the questionnaire is answered and submitted back to them, then the AP will continue to move forward.  As to how long that will take, no one can give you a concise answer.

They don’t tailor questions to specific individuals. Your father presumably got a DS5535 or other list of standard questions. Stop getting hung up on the fact that they asked about social media and get the form done, the sooner it’s submitted the sooner they can start on the additional background checks required. If it is a DS5535, be aware that this normally takes at least a couple of months and often more to process.

We submitted this form on the same day. Case already has updated twice in two days after that. I presume they have received the information.

Case Update: its been two months (25-Sep-18) since I had submitted additional information required by embassy but when I email ustraveldocs it replies, “Please be informed that there is no acknowledgement or confirmation sent by post for such uploading of documents. Post will contact you in case of any further documents or details if required.”

Moreover, case was updated only once in last two months when I inquired avout status of my case and it was not updated else-wise. Please advice if I could expedite the process somehow.

Quite normal for the DS5535 to take a couple of months or so to go through processing.  No way to expedite AP in your case...the need for the DS5535 delayed it slightly.  Some people are stuck in AP for weeks, some for months, some even for a year or more.

Like the CO told you best----the process takes some time.

Did you verify that they received DS-5535? You mentioned that you sent that using usatraveldocs. Did the CO ask you to send it using usatraveldocs ? Couldn't you upload them on CEAC website?

I got an email from embassy for additional information. I sent information in reply to that email.

Then, after a while we went to another window where one officer collected our documents and it turned out that the birth certificate was not original. We protested a bit and then he said that if you wish me to put it with documents, I would but it would affect your case as you are under oath and this would be considered a lie. On hearing that, we asked him to give it back and then he told us that you could send it after wards. He was rude and asked us in a bitter way that whether we children are married or not. We told him that we are not. He also asked us what do we do and we answered him accordingly.

Which birth certificate was the one with issues - yours (children) or the beneficiary parent?   What type of birth certificate (NADRA, Municipal Corporation, etc) did you provide?

We submitted the birth certificate of my father on 21-July-2018. It took us a week because we had to issue a new birth certificate. We submitted it at Lahore’s courier office. The case has not been updated till now. We have not been contacted by embassy as well. Wait is on.

Why did you need a new birth certificate?  What was wrong with the old one?  Did you submit a Municipal Birth Certificate, NADRA certificate, or another type?

He had a color photocopy of birth certificate. For Pakistan, NVC required birth certificate from Govt of Punjab or NADRA. NVC rejected our union council birth certificates since they were issued after 2001. NVC accepted the birth certificate issued by Govt of Punjab.

Issuing Authority: Union Council, Municipal Corporation, Office of the Cantonment Board, CDA or family registration certificates (FRC) from NADRA are acceptable. In larger cities, such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi etc. municipal corporation issued birth certificates prior to 2001 are acceptable. Pakistanis may present a family registration certificate (FRC) issued by the NADRA.

For the first time in last 6 months, i-e: after submitting ds-5535 through email, we got a case update on its own. I used to inquire after every month or so and the case got updated but i stopped getting response from embassy. Now, on 5-Mar case got updated on its own. Strange thing is that we 5 family members are in AP but case of only my father has been updated, none of the others are updated. Embassy asked for ds-5535 of my father only in last September. Is this a good sign or what?
