You keep the same SSN for your whole life. Even if you leave the USA. This number is unique to you and is always yours. So you must include it.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Once you are assigned a SSN that is for life. It doesn’t matter that it was years ago and you haven’t lived in the states since then. It’s still gonna be the same. If you have it write it down. If you don’t know what the number is you still say you’ve been assigned one but that you don’t know what the number is so you don’t get a duplicate. Having a SSN before coming to the states on a K1 makes it a lot easier to get a replacement card and health insurance, bank accounts, credit cards, etc.

Did you get your number because of a work Visa or other visa?   My wife has a SS# but still waiting on her EAD.  It says on the card "Depending on work authorization" or something to that effect, like it's valid until she gets authorization.   I would put it down anyways though.  Funny thing about SS#'s... they are issued according to the region that a person lives in.  We are in AZ,  Applied for her SS# in Cal,  and the number is Penn.  I can think of someone else who has a Penn. # but never lived there.  An Ex Pres..

Actually, ss#s are no longer by region. This all changed under the Obama administration after it was revealed he had a Connecticut ss#.  He never lived in that state and not sure if this was the reason it changed or not. Just seems fairly odd that it did change after the disput of his US citizenship and place of birth. The numbers issued today are random. Used to be you could tell where someone was from by the first 3 numbers of ss. For example, 252 was Georgia. 242 was NC. 042 was Connecticut. Having a previous ss# will make things much easier for OP.

That’s not what that means. That means that card is only valid with a work authorization, ie EAD card, because the person is not a permanent resident yet. After you become one, you can get a card that doesn’t say that.

Yes, I meant "invalid" in lieu of "Valid" as typed.  My typo, but yes, I agree..

My wife is applying for her social security card with the I-765. UGH should have gotten it before and not with the I-765. Now we have to wait for that to be completed before she gets hers. Mistake on our part but we will wait patiently
