Hi,

I'm applying for N-400 based on being a permanent resident for 3 years married to U.S. citizen. I have a question regarding selective services registration

I arrived to the US in August 2012 as F-1 student at age 23, by accident I registered to selective services when I applied for drivers license. I became a lawful permanent resident (conditional green card) in October, 19 2015 (marriage to US citizen) at age 26.

In the N-400 application there is a question:

Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays?

This does not include living in the United States as a lawful nonimmigrant.

Should I answer yes or no? I was a lawful nonimmigrant between 23-26 birthdays, but I did register to selective services at age 23. Should I answer yes and provide selective services registration number?

Thanks!

As far as i know, you should count yourself lucky for mistakenly registering for selective service, as it is a requirement for males as part of good moral character, i think.  So please proudly select yes for that option and provide the number if that is what they ask (i wont know because i am female).

Good luckk on your journey
