Hi All,

I am currently filling my adjustment of Staus , and for the Form I-765 (employment authorization form) on number 15, there is a question that says “Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS”.

I am currently a CPT holder , but that is just printed on my I-20 form and not necessarily a work authorization because it was issued by my school DSO.

my question is that, should I answer YES for the question or No?

Thanks in anticipation for a response.

Think it's not since CPT is approved by a DHS designated official at school and no application submitted to USCIS.

At least that's what I did on my I-485. Filed last year and about to go to my interview in 2 weeks.

Aug 22 AOS package (I-485, I-130, I-131) sent to Chicago lockbox

Aug 23 Delivered

Aug 30 Email/text receipts of 3

Sep 2 NOA for I-130 only

I didn’t list my CPT because I don’t think USCIS is involved with that. I just listed my two OPTs during my summers in college.

05/16/18: Married to USC

05/24/18: Mailed in AOS package

05/25/18: Priority date

06/07/18: Received NOA in mail

06/09/18: Received Biometrics appointment in mail

06/19/18: Completed Biometrics; submitted request to expedite EAD based on Severe Financial Loss (pending job offer and end of then-current employment)

06/20/18: Submitted case to Congresswoman's office, which submitted an expedite request on their end

06/22/18: Faxed supporting documents per email response from USCIS; submitted case to Ombudsman

06/26/18: Received email response from USCIS that my case is under review

06/29/18: End of then-current employment

07/06/18: EAD approved, and card in production

07/13/18: Received combo card in mail

03/01/19: Received request for initial interview notice

04/09/19: Initial interview; AOS approved

Check the immigration website and see if it is considered a work permit or not . On google it says cpt is considered a work authorization . And it is approved from  Uscis. All you need to do on the application is enter the number if the cpt has any .

I don't think you have to report CPT.

CPT does not require an EAD. OPT does.

CPT has no number, it's just an authorization letter from the school.

Thanks. Based on my research online also I saw that CPT is not a form of EAD. So I’ll just tell them check No as the answer.
