Odd they should rehash this old charges on the eve of the Putin Trump summit.

from the Op link

and somehow most major outlets are missing this

In that case, the defendants are accused of spreading derogatory information about Clinton, denigrating Republican candidates Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio -- and ultimately supporting Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders and then-Republican candidate Donald Trump.

My favorite comment was from former DNC head Debbie Wasserman Shultz  (who had to resign because she got caught rigging the primary for Hillary.

"“I’m pleased that the Justice Department is following the facts wherever they may lead, despite Donald Trump’s dangerous distortions and his refusal to acknowledge the conclusions reached by the American intelligence community,” she said."

Actually this is the first formal indictment of Russian intelligence officers for interfering with the 2016 Presidential election.

And I don't think it is odd not to want our Commander in Chief to have a friendly summit with a hostile foreign power who is actively attacking our election system, and is uniformly opposed to Western Democracy and Rule of Law.

Pres Trump keeps choosing Putin’s word over the US intelligence community’s & giving Kremlin a green light to undermine U.S. democracy & elections. It needs to stop. But will continue as long as GOP majority in Congress goes along.

"These indictments are further proof of what everyone but the president seems to understand: President Putin is an adversary who interfered in our elections to help President Trump win,” Mr. Schumer said in a statement on Friday. “Glad-handing with Vladimir Putin on the heels of these indictments would be an insult to our democracy.”

The twelve defendants were officers with “GRU,” a Russian military intelligence agency that conducted cyber operations to interfere with the 2016 presidential election. They are accused of hacking and conspiring with others to hack into the Democratic National Committee, the Clinton presidential campaign and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The charges include conspiracy against the United States, money laundering and attempts to break into state boards of elections and other government agencies.

In late July 2016, Mr. Trump publicly encouraged Russia to hack Mrs. Clinton’s emails and make them public. The indictment does not mention those remarks.

But according to the indictment, the same day Mr. Trump made those statements, on July 27, 2016, Russian hackers tried for the first time to break into the servers used by Mrs. Clinton’s personal offices.

“Conspirators attempted after hours to spearphish for the first time email accounts at a domain hosted by a third party provider and used by Clinton’s personal office,” the indictment said. Around the same time, according to the indictment, the hackers targeted 76 Clinton campaign email accounts.

During a rally in Florida that same day in 2016, Mr. Trump said, “I will tell you this, Russia: If you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said in Florida. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

Amazing work by the FBI.  And the FBI is always right, except when it come to uncovering their own text messages and emails of presidential candidates.

There was absolutely no bias in those text messages.

I wonder what Mueller is gonna do when they demand discovery.

Must still be everyone is out to get Trump, right? Not just the media, congress, the judicial system, the left, the FBI, the CIA, celebrities, and the rest of the known world, but now federal grand juries are making up indictments just to get at back at him. SMH.

He is going to say, bring your client to the US, and we will start the legal proceedings. If any if these folks leave Russia, Interpol will sweep them up and hand them to the FBI. They also may have issues getting to their offshore money until they answer these charges.

Why didn't that happen last time he took some Russians to court and they actually showed up to defend themselves to his surprise? When they demanded discovery Mueller denied them their due process right and claimed national securiry.

How were they denied their rights?

Discovery is a right when you are on trial for an alleged crime.

If we are talking about espionage, specific procedures apply. But hey, turn themselves in and we will talk.

The Russians I am talking about did show up for court and were denied their due process right of discovery. There was no allegation of espionage and even if there was they still have due process rights.

Assuming these Russians are guilty of what they are being accused of what does this have to do with Russian collusion? We were told yesterday no US citizens are linked to this in any way and there is no evidence this affected the outcome of the election. Mueller may have finally found Russians that won't show up for court so he can have his show trial even though his first attempt to do this failed and embarrassed him. The left will eat it all up and ask for seconds though.
