Is it possible to correct a form with a pen or something?

Hey guys, I know my title is weird so let me explain.

I am filling for AOS, and my only joint sponsor for the affidavit, checked a wrong box, saying he is the second of two joint sponsors (probably thinking my wife would be the first).  The correct option would be "I am the only joint sponsor".  He signed all the pages so I can't print them again and he is traveling and won't be back for a month.

I was thinking if I could simply maybe attach a note or redact with a black pen? Does anybody have any experience with this? Or if it's ok to "correct" by pen the form or he must print it again?

I am pretty sure if I send it the way it is I will get an RFE along the way asking "where is the first sponsor application or something".

Thanks

No, you can't correct someone else's form. You could get another joint sponsor (to make it correct), have your friend fill it out again (because even on the road, hotels have internet and computers), or submit as-is and risk a RFE/questions (the plus side it will be submitted, but an RFE will almost certainly counteract the time savings).

If I were you, I'd reach out to my friend. Send him just the first page again. It'll take him under five minutes, even at a hotel.

The problem is that he signed all the pages, so he would have to send me again which according to him he won't be able to... So yeah i'll try to see if he can at least scan it and I print it here

Unfortunately, you cannot.

as per USCIS page: (https://www.uscis.gov/forms-filing-tips)

Complete Your Form Accurately

  • Don’t forget to sign your form! We will reject and return any unsigned form.
  • Use the most current form version. We prefer that you download forms from our website, complete them electronically, and then print your forms to submit.
  • Complete the entire form.
  • If you hand write your answers, use black ink. Make sure your entries are neat, legible and within the space provided.
  • Do not use highlighters or correction fluid or tape. The scanners we use will not properly read information that is greyed out, highlighted or corrected using correction fluid or tape.
  • If you make an error, start over with a clean form.
  • If filing multiple forms, write your name, date of birth, and A-Number (if any) exactly the same way on each form.
  • Pay the correct fee. We will reject forms submitted with incorrect or incomplete fees.
