I doubt very many animals would die from eating straws.  Maybe very tiny critters.  Most would just eat it and poop it out.  The oceans are a different issue, obviously.

As I said the other day, straws are about 0.0003% of the issue.  I'm in the DR today, and the beaches look 90% better now, but the smell of waste is still in the ocean breeze.  Took them several days to clean it up.  Question is... where did they PUT it?
