Alright I entered the United States on a K3 Visa. Meaning I had my medical examination/shots before I entered the USA. That was almost 3 years ago.

Anyways I had my biometrics taken for my Greencard (All 10 fingers). The lady said I should recieve my Greencard in the mail, I felt relieved.

Well I recieved something in the mail alright. It was a notice to appear for an interview for me and my wife. Asking us to bring all the neccessary documentation to prove our marriage. On the list of items to bring it said something about Medical information. Now do I need a new Medical exam all over again? I worked it out you see. It would be cheaper for me to fly back to England and get my exam done there, then it would be to stay here in the United States to get it done.

So what I'm asking is. Do I need to do the medical thing all over again. Next to where it says Medical it has (If not already submitted)

Also was the lady wrong about me getting my greencard in the mail? Is this interview a mistake? I was told I can get a 10 year Greencard seen as I have been married for over 3 years.

Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

If your medical is over a year old, you need a new one (at least that is my understanding). It shouldn't be more than a couple $100.00 and maybe less. The lady was incorrect about you get a green card in the mail. Most people need to go to the interview first in order to be approved (you should get a 10 year Green Card) if approved, beause you have been married for more than 2 years).

That and I am sure that seeing as pretty much everyone that has an interview has to show their Appendix to I-693 that was done by a US CS. It would probably be faster and more economical to just go to one close to you.

when did you *apply* for AOS? Was it within a year of your last medical? You say you had your K3 medical 3 years ago, when did you enter the US? I'm guessing your K3 is expired and you're in AOS limbo at the moment right? Which means you can't leave the US without AP, which would cost you an additional application fee, plus wait time. Not to mention of course airfare at peak season, and dollar conversion.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Good point.

Also, if the K3 is expired leaving the country would make re-entry impossible, no?

also, generally the person doing your fingerprints for biometrics is not a officer but one of them will come along and enter that information into the system after. In a way she wasnt wrong about you receiving your card in the mail, she just didnt mention the rest of the steps to go through before that. your card will come in the mail after approval at interview.

dont leave the country if your K3 is expired and you do not have advance approval.

it will be cheaper to have the complete medical I693 and the supplement (your vaccinations) I693A done here. When did you submit your AOS? was it after the 12 month anniversary of your overseas medical? if so you need a new complete new one.

It is the norm for a K3 to have an interview especially when it is the 10year card that they will be receiving.

I 130 & I129F (K3) and AOS info in timeline
