Man Charged With Slashing Boy's Throat Over Pogo Stick

PHILADELPHIA -- A 10-year-old boy was bouncing around on a pogo stick and minding his own business when a man slit the child's throat because he wouldn't give him the toy, according to police.

Police said 25-year-old Tim Pratt attacked the unnamed child just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of West Lindley Avenue in Philadelphia. Pratt, of the 4500 block of Mole Street, was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder, aggravated and simple assault, among other related charges, police said.

After an investigation, authorities said the attack was random and added Pratt was on drugs when he stabbed the boy, who was listed in stable condition Wednesday.

The victim's cousin told police the boy was on a pogo stick when Pratt walked up to the victim and tried to take it before cutting the boy's throat.

The boy's grandfather and other family members managed to grab the man and keep him in the area until police responded. The boy's mother had just arrived and covered the wound until he was taken to the hospital.

It's always terrible when a kid gets hurt, but I'm not shocked nor am I surprised by it, where I live I see many people being brutally beaten and stabbed slashed, shot with crossbow bolts, sliced, cleaved, glassed, and along with TV I guess I'm not as sensitive to it these days.

As I said in a previous post, the punishment should fit the crime.

As said above, had it been one of my sons that was attacked like this and I had the guy, the police wouldnt need to worry about arresting him, I would go quietly.

if that had been any of my kids and someone did that, i would have beaten the holy ####### outta him. when the police got there they would have needed a helicopter to fly his ####### to the hospital. OMG why didnt the family do something :/
