Curious what you added as extras? We have only met once, and don't have a ton of photos, but we have great deep conversation proof etc.

Wondering what else would be effective, although I know it'll be in the interview file too.

for the k1 petition you only have to have proof of meeting at least once in 2 years time. at the interview stage is where you need to prove an ongoing and bonafide relationship.

pictures are secondary evidence.

you need boarding passes, receipts, passport stamps, etc.

id strongly suggest at least one more in person visit before the interview, and make sure to take pics including with family and friends.

Not sure how South Africa ranks as needing "front loading". Front loading is generally for high fraud countries which, as far as I know, South Africa isn't one of them.

As for one meeting, a lot of us only met once and got through the process no issues; but as above, a second meeting like during the process to show during the interview could always be beneficial.

As for the petition again, front loading in a sense is just overloading with relationship proof and such; but for SA, I wouldn't stress that too much just put all the relevant information possible into it.

Think we literally send 20 screen shots of texts showing a timeline of conversation over a couple years, 5-6 photos, boarding passes, hotel receipt, a credit card statement showing some purchases, passport stamp page for entry/exit.. was pretty basic and simple. Same went for ongoing relationship stuff for the interview, mostly chats and such since we didn't get a second visit; but again not sure how "tough" South Africa embassy is but assuming it's pretty moderate.

For the petition, I sent my booking itinerary, boarding passes for a few of the legs (I somehow lost some) of my flights. I sent receipts (both hotel printout and credit card) of the hotel I stayed in. And I sent about 7 or 8 pictures of us together during my trip. I also sent copies of every page of my passport.  As another "extra" I also sent a copy of my birth certificate. It wasn't required since I had included my passport but whatever, it was one more page to copy, no big deal.

We did front load with our petition, since we only meet once before we file our petition. Our evidence is included a screenshot during our video call, screenshot having video call with his family (since I'm not able to fly to States to meet the family in person), screenshot of conversation with the family (I'm in their family group chat), a picture of handmade card that I make by myself for every occasion (including birthday) to his family, a screenshot of his parents show me around their new house. Screenshot of our post in Instagram and Facebook together with the comments from all our friends and family members (to prove that our relationship is real and everyone know about it). I know it seems like we front load too much, but, it did help us during the interview. Sometimes the interviewer doesn't even ask for more relationship evidence but then they denied them due to no bona fide relationship. We trying to avoid it to happen to us. That is why we choose to front load. Good luck with your journey! :)

I sent documentation of my two trips (passport stamps, airline ticket stub, etc.), 4 photos, a few emails for each month of our communication for the K1 petition. My wife didn't have a difficult embassy, and I believe me attending her interview helped. FWIW, the CO doing the interview did ask about the photos and email conversations that was sent but YMMV. This was 7 years ago.

Forgot to mention, I brought proof of additional travels after the petition was filed in case they wanted to see ongoing relationship document beyond our email/skype conversations.
