My wife's friend just did the AOS and they said its a new requirment for people to do the medical again after arriving in the states? Is that true? My wife has her medical form from st lukes and her friend paid $420 for a medical here. Has anyone heard of that requriment?

No, not that I've heard of. Maybe their medical lapsed? They're typically only valid for one year. Some people also don't file AOS immediately, meaning their medical would lapse and need to be re-done.

From my understanding as long as you file for AOS within one year of your original medical being completed abroad, you are not required to get another done. I am doing the K1 visa, and that is how it is for that. I'm sure some other Vj'ers will flame me if I am wrong, but as long as you file within a year of your previous medical you should be good.

Above is a link for a website that had medical information for all visa types, but trust at your own risk. I'm sure it's legit, but I always trust the information I get from live people on here who have been thru it... most of the time....LOL

looks like you came in on a K1 according to your timeline so you only need proof of vaccinations to AOS from K1 if you file within a year of first medical. That is why it's good to get a copy of your DS-3025 vaccination record at your first medical.

Also your wife's friend may have found one of those doctors who insist on redoing the whole medical. it's not required but they try to squeeze every cent they can.
