Michelle,

I hope you feel better soon. I just had my gallbladder out about a month ago after a gall bladder attack (and finding gallstones via ultrasound). The surgery was nothing compared to the attack.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

DItto about the sciatica. My mom's a massage therapist that has worked for many professional atheletes. (mostly NBA players, but some visiting NFL guys on referral from Nike)

Myofascial release will be the way to go, but, with anything, if it is set in muscle memory it will take some time to really fully fix the problem. I would also recommend swimming every day and stretching a LOT. Swimming will stretch yourself out. Just do some laps, light - not rigorous, and the thing where you kick off from the wall and go as far as you can underwater. It will gently straighten out your body. Just don't make it an excercise!

I have exactly the same symptoms you describve right now - down to walking unevenly, and I can tell you the problem is almsot certainly in the hips, although it feels like its in the outside side of the legs as well. I have been far too busy to do anything about it, but the stretching helps a lot, and I'll get my mom to work on it when I get some time. :)

good luck both of you!!!

Your absence runs through me like a needle

I had a pinched nerve, siatica? for over 1 and a half years. Im one of those Americans with out health insurance, so, I just deal with the pain. A good friend of mine talked me into going to a nuro-muscular massage therapist. I kid you not, he spent 90 minutes with me, had me stand, bend sit walk...didnt even rub my back for me LOL, but told me to, 1. sleep on my back (im 50% good at this) then gave me a few exercises to do. Within 1 month I was 70% better, within 3 months 100%. Now, I can still feel I have this if I walk too much, however I think more exercise would do the trick...but I was on, up to 18 Ibuprofen, extra strength a day. Some days, that would not even touch the swelling so the pain would not go away. Some days, Gin was the only thing that would solve the problem. I dont mean flat out drinking, I mean one half of a gin and tonic and I was 100% better. That is when I thought, wow I can see why someone in pain becomes an addict, just for the darn relief.

None the less though, I highly recommend anyone who has trained under Paul St. John (and they are all over the country). Neuro Muscular Massage therapy...I guess people of "my" age get this pinched nerve...38+
