AOS "Interview was scheduled" status change(!) - but when is it?

Hi all,

I have filed for AOS (from K1) on May 2017.

My case was at "Scheduling your interview" for a year, and today it finally changed to "Interview Was Scheduled", but there is no date online with the time.

I called USCIS but they are useless as usual saying I should call back in 14-30 days and the system might show some information, and that I generally simply have to wait for the mail notice with the interview date/time.

Is that correct? How soon should I realistically expect to receive the letter in the mail, will it contain the exact interview date/time? What if I'm unavailable that day, can I reschedule?

Thanks!

1. Yes.

2. Takes a few days to a week.

3. Yes.

4. It's scheduled 4 weeks in advance so clear that day. This takes priority over everything else. You risk waiting an unknown length of time if you try to reschedule. They're not really nice about re-scheduling for the applicant's sake. This is the federal government; they're not here to cater to us. They really only re-schedule if something happens on their end.
