Down here where I live in the borderlands of Arizona/Mexico a lot of people from Nogales,AZ come and go everyday between both Nogales AZ/Mexico.  I guess my question is once my spouse and I are in the USA does it matter if we decided to spend one weekend per month visiting relatives in Mexico?  Example; arrive friday evening and leave to come home to the USA on Sunday afternoon?

When applying for Naturalization, you must provide information about every overnight stay in another country.  Keep a record.  Each overnight adds one day to when you are eligible to apply for Naturalization.  Your personal record will be all you have to go on for trips where you drive or walk across the border.

I wasn’t asking about naturalization.  I was asking in regards to not getting her permanent residency taken away for traveling across the border too often.

One weekend per month won’t constitute abandoning permanent residency correct?

That's correct.  I'm just providing additional information you are likely to need later.  If you don't know NOW to keep a record, you will have some problems later.  A problem you may not have already anticipated.
