Tourist Visa to US (gonna visit my boyfriend)

Good day everyone. I am new here in this forum. I have some concerns that's bothering me and making me nervous in trying to apply for tourist visa to visit US. I have an american boyfriend. I met him online. We've been talking for more than a year now. We have not met yet in person but we always communicate like everyday thru text and video calls. Now, he wanted me to visit US. My problem is that I have not been to any country. Is it really a requirement to visit other countries (no visa required countries) before you visit US? Kindly help me. I would really appreciate all the answers. Thank you and God bless. Have a nice day!

Are you a Filipina? I'm from Philippines. Having been to another countries is really not a requirement. My parents and my sister haven't been abroad when they applied for a US tourist visa. They applied for them to attend my wedding here. And they got approved. You just need to provide strong ties to our country. It includes property deeds, business permits, employment certification. My sister even brought her study load. But to tell you honestly, you visiting your boyfriend could have you a slim chance of approval. The consul might think that you will just get married there. Why not let him visit you tho?

If you have a job in your own country, try to ask your company to write an employment reference. In the letter mention you are their employee and you take holiday from when to when and will back to work on which date.

  • Apr 01 2018 - US Citizen Boyfriend proposed
  • Apr 18 2018 - Got Married in Montana, USA
  • May 15 2018 - Mailed out USCIS applications (I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-864, I-765, I-131) to Chicago Lockbox
  • (Day 1) May 16 2018 - Mail arrived Chicago Lockbox (confirmed by USPS) 
  • (Day 19) Jun 04 2018 - Received email & SMS notification - case received (All money orders being cashed on this day)
  • (Day 24) Jun 09 2018 - Received all receipts (NOA) from USCIS, also the Biometrics Appointment letter (Appointment date: Jun 18) 
  • (Day 33) Jun 18 2018 - Arrived Helena ASC at 9.15am (Appointment at 10am), finished at 9.35am (Yea it was super quick!)
  • (Day 35) Jun 20 2018 - Received SMS & Email notification request for evidence for my I-485
  • (Day 40) Jun 25 2018 - Courtesy letter for I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record) received

When i applied my visitor visa (altho it was like long time ago), I asked my company wrote that employment letter for me and i got the visa approved for 10 years.

I believe the US consulate just want to make sure you just go there for visit and will back to your country.

Yes I will do this. We are not planning to get married yet because we are still young. Just visit.

Getting a US visitor visa does not require visiting other countries.

 

Getting a US visitor visa requires you to show strong ties to your country to overcome the legal presumption that all visa applicant plan to illegally immigrate to the US.

 

It seems that your US boyfriend is naive like most Americans about visitor visa.  It's not easy and he doesn't know that.

 

What are your strong reason for going back home after visiting?  How do you overcome the presumption that you will illegally stay in the US to marry him?

 

What kind of job do you have?  Any job is not enough.  People with certain jobs have easier times getting visas than people with different jobs.

 

What country are you from and what are your reasons for going back?

A common mistake people make when applying for a tourist visa is thinking  they need to convince the CO of all the reasons they want/need to visit the US.

COs are concerned only about reasons/need to return to the home country.

 

Other than your job, what are your other compelling reasons to leave the US after a visit?
