I think you'll be fine for such a short visit. I've had Detroit as my POE once before, and had no trouble. The immigration officer only asked about length of and reason for stay. and then if we were getting married this visit.

A little worried over my arrival in the states on tuesday.. I was just there over halloween for 9 days, and will only be staying for 5 days over thanksgiving. Anyone have any experience from POE at Detroit? I made sure I picked a 4hr layover just in case I run into problems.

JamesRenee, that was so helpful! Thanks so much!

Anyone tried to enter in Portland Oregon??? My love comes in 18 days!!!

Hi!

We lodge our application for I-129F and got NOA1 in Nov 6th.

I visited USA in Nov 7th (for four days only). My fiance flew from California to Seattle to meet me there.

There is how it went:

Officer: Are you travelling alone?

Me: Yes

Officer: For how long?

Me: 4 days

Officer: Are your meeting someone?

Me: Yes, a friend

Officer: When & how did you meet this friend

Me: Oh no, Actually he is just not a friend, if you are gonna look into your system, you can see that we filed our K1 Visa Application recently

Officer: Ahmm ok

Me: Do you need to see some of his details? (I only have a hotel booking & car rental reservation under his name, lol)

Officer: Oh no, just go for your baggage screening

:) That was it

Hello Everyone,

Here's our experience on visiting. We filed our initial petition on July 3rd, received our NOA1 on July 7th, and got our NOA2 on November 7th.

We made travel arrangements for my fiancee to travel to the U.S. from November 15th to November 28th.

Her POE was Miami and it took her at most 30 seconds to clear immigration after waiting about an hour to see an agent, which is normal.

She got asked the following questions:

-Where are you from?

-How long are you planning on staying?

-What is the reason of your visit?

-Does your fiance live here (Miami)?

-How did you meet him?

When answering, all you have to do is to be clear and honest.

Also, she carried with her, just in case, the following:

-Letter from her employer validating her employment and stating the dates she was taking for her vacation

-Bank account statements (showing her current residence's address)

-Return ticket (full itinerary)

-Last salary payment check

-Copy of the full K-1 file

So there you go, she was able to visit me in the U.S. even after receiving our NOA2.

Best of luck to all of you who wish to visit their loved one during the process!

Thank you for sharing your experience :) I am going to visit my fiance in seattle next month and my father will be going too since he wants to see where i will live at in the future. it is sooo stressful when i think about the immigration. Ugh! I have got Noa1, Noa2, E-Packet3 from consulate. and set my interview on January due to my visit in dec. Hope We will be okay lol

I have to admit it is very hard for me to read 69pages to see if i find someone like me, so i will just ask: I'm from Romania, we have our NOA1 hard copy until now and i'm planning to come to visit my fiancee for holidays and my birthday (i plan to stay 1month), but since Romania is not in the VWP i have to apply for a tourist visa. There are so many people who told me that i will get it since we applied for K1, but my question is do you think i'll have problems at POE since i have no job, school or anything with my name, because when we decided to apply i had no idea about how long it will take (we are TSC) and i stopped going to work and school. And also i have to say that my planes will probably be: Hungary-Germany-Texas-New Mexico and i wonder my POE interview will be in Texas or New Mexico (Albuquerque) ? Thank you in advance.

Not sure about tourist visa but more than likely you'll need to show some ties to home to prove that you will return.

Your POE is always the first stop on US soil unless you've been through somewhere with pre clearance like Ireland. So you will go through immigration in Texas. Good luck! :)

I am American, and applied I-129F, on behalf of my Chinese fiancé, in October 2014. We already received NOA1, and are awaiting NOA2, for the K1 fiancé visa.

I wanted him to join me for 2014 Christmas in USA. So he applied for B1/B2 tourist visa through Guangzhou Consulate. In the B1/B2 visa application, we clearly state that we are within the processing window for K1 fiancé visa, and that he will come visit USA for 2 months, Dec13 2014 - Feb14 2015 (we even included flight itinerary). Within 10 days, he was approved for a 10 year tourist visa, multi-entry, 6month per visit. No interviews, no questions asked. The new visa sticker is now in his passport (and its good until 2024!)

In December, we will travel together, and I'll update this post with what happens at Dallas Texas POE (point of entry). Based on other posts, I assume he'll get some questions, but can still get through.

Reason I post this... Everything my Chinese fiancé reads in Chinese language blogs/posts says you CANNOT/SHOULD NOT attempt this. However, everything I read on USA blogs (and on official USA Consulate FAQs) says this is 100% permissible, so long as fiancé is truly visiting, and not permanently immigrating, on trips under B1/B2 visa.

Good luck to all, and feel free to message me on VisaJourney, if you have any further questions! :)

Cheers,

Michael

Detroit were pretty okay. The 3 officers I spoke to on my way in and out were all pretty standard and kept reminding me that I can't get married in the states and stay legally and so on.

Hey! New user here. I am going to visit my fiancé in US for Christmas holidays. I am working in my own country and there will be a possibility to spend longer time in US this time. I have my plane ticket back after 3 weeks from my leaving date and now I want to make sure does it cost some problems to our K1 process (we've got noa1 on September, waiting for noa2) if I change my plane ticket back to my own country while I am in US? My plane ticket back is now in the beginning of January, and I may want to change it for February.

What do you think? Has anyone experience of this kind of situation?

This is 100% doable. Be honest and tell that you are visiting your fiancé(e) and that you're intentions are to stay until January. If you then decide to change your flight tickets, go ahead and do so, as long as it is within 90 days of arrival. Scandinavian countries, in my opinion, are handled pretty easily by border control, maybe because it being a low risk country. I as a swede, visited in 2013 four times without any issues, and now in 2014, I've been there 3 times, whereas 2 of the times have been during my await for NOA2.

Just had my POE at LAX and it was a breeze coming in- because I have an ESTA and have entered on this passport before I was allowed to use the passport scanning machines that USC's use and then the interview guy just wanted to see my return ticket home. Took less than five mins! No other questions or anything unusual! Good luck to anyone else visiting over Christmas!
