Hi, I have question about visiting:

If they will not let me to the US while I'm in the proces of getting the fiancee visa, will it affect negatively my chances to get the visa? I really want to visit before we get it, because it looks like it will take a while, but I don't want to risk it if I can get banned from enternig for years or having my K1 visa application rejected if thy won't believe that I'm not planning on immigrate just yet.

Did anybody have any problem with getting the visa after being turned away at the airport? Any answers from people with that experience would be greatly appreciated.

My fiancé just landed from Russia. We are going through the K1 process. We have her a return ticket for February. We will probably change her ticket once we get approval and she need to go back to Russia for the interview. She flew through Atlanta where I picked her up. She was asked very few questions about me: such as what I do for a living and where I lived. No big problem. They stamped her through March 1.

I'm glad I found this thread, because I now plan to visit my fiancée while our application is being processed.

I have a quick question regarding the possible appointment date for a K1 visa interview, though.

I hope to visit in late October, which will be around six months since the application was sent. Obviously I can't predict when we we will get a response, but would a decision on my visa conflicting with my visit to America have a negative effect on our application, or my chances of entering the country?

If I thought it would, I would move my planned visit to the end of September instead. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

No, it shouldn't have any negative bearing on you visiting the US. We are May fliers. So, with her staying until February, we should definitely hear back on whether we are approved or not while she is here. We are planning on her staying throughout the entire process until we have her interview at the American Embassy in Russia. Then, we will change our flights from February to whenever they decide to approve our application and her interview is set.

Hello everyone! First post here!

My fiancé and I (the USC) are in the process of preparing to file for a K1 but we're also planning to trip to see each other in December; as I'm currently a student, I only have a small window available between semesters. Initially I had been planning to fly back to him (third time) but after finding this thread, I'm going to ask him if he'd like to visit me instead and meet my family before we're about to get married.

But I do have a couple questions.

First, I notice many of the success stories here belong to people from Canada or the UK. My fiancé is Mexican and will be traveling from Mexico. I didn't even know about VWP or ESTA until I started reading the stories here, but Mexico is not part of the program and he'd need to file for a B2 visa, if I'm not mistaken. Does anyone have any experience traveling from Mexico or any advice that might influence our decision?

Second, we're a same-sex couple and although I know, for filing purposes, this won't affect our eligibility (thank you, SCOTUS!), but I'm not sure how it would be received by the POE. Again, does anyone have any experience in this regard or advice that could help us?

Thank you so much, for all these stories and everything!

Hey!

Thank you for all of the interesting stories and positive feedback! My fiancee is going to try and visit this October and we are worried about him getting denied. He is from Spain. We received our NOA1 on July 21st 2014 but it was sent to the Texas Processing Center, which looks a bit backed up. We want for him to come visit for two months while we are waiting but we wanted to get opinions on a few topics:

1.How long he should stay? We want him to stay for 80 days but more importantly we don't want him to be denied so does anyone recommend a shorter visit?

2. What should he bring with him to the POE?
- K1 Visa info

- Return ticket

- travelers insurance receipt

Since he is self employed and just graduated college do you think of anything he could bring to prove he will be going back? He currently lives with his mom, so no lease.

3. Dressing for POE- Business?

Thanks for all of your wisdom, insight and help in advance!

Saludos,

Lauren & David

Hi Everyone,

We received our NOA2 yesterday after 8 months! My fiancé is currently here in the states and I was wondering if it will be ok to finish and wait for this process to finish while he is here. His mailing address is to here in the states, so we will get all forms here, but would it it be ok for him to be here up until the medical exam and interview? Right now his ticket back to NZ is Nov 17, and I would like to have him here as long as possible.

Thank you to anyone who can help!

Hello-

Just looking for some advice... my fiancé and I received our NOA1 today & were notified it's being processed at the TSC. We're aware at this point that it's going to be some time before we receive our NOA2. So obviously we're planning for him to visit. He is from England so he would come over on the waiver & we are planning on him staying for as long as possible which would be just short of 90 days. We also plan on him flying into Detroit. My question is should I worry about him not being able to come for that long? I would be devastated if he was sent back. We plan on having him prepared with a copy of our I-129, a return ticket, and letter from his employer stating he is returning to his job after his stay. We were hoping to be sent to the CSC (as I'm sure most couples are) but now that we know it's going to be longer than hoped for we just really want to be able to spend as much time together as possible. Also- if anyone has gone through Detroit for their POE- how was your experience? Thank you in advance for any help, guidance, etc. It's greatly appreciated

I'm in the US now for an 88 day visit on the VWP. No problems whatsoever - I had the proof you mentioned above, and wasn't asked for any of it (though I highly recommend to bring it just in case). My POE this time was Minneapolis, and it was my best POE experience so far. I've gone through Detroit before (for a shorter visit), and encountered no issues there either. At the time we were not engaged - I told the officer I was there to visit my boyfriend, he asked me some questions about my boyfriend and myself, then sent me through. I'm sure you'll be fine as well - good luck! :)

Thank you so much! That is so extremely helpful- you have no idea! I didn't think it would be an issue if we were prepared with documentation, and I haven't heard anything negative about Detroit as a POE- but hearing it from someone who has actually been through it & didn't encounter any problems is such a relief. Thank you again so much- you cannot know how good it is to hear that! Good luck to you as well! :):)

I was incredibly stressed about this but I have visited twice so far since getting engaged- both pre NOA2.

The first time was in DC (2 weeks) and I answered truthfully that I was visiting friends (i used to go to school in the same city). When asked to name one of the friends I named my fiancé. He wasn't really that bothered, just asked me how much money i had and how long I was staying then let me go.

The second time I was in Charlotte with my family and he just asked why we were there (holiday) and how long and then that was it. Easy!

I took about SO much paperwork with me too but all for nothing!
