My fiance came and stayed with me the whole month of March with now problems. She's from South Korea and arrived at JFK. The officer asked her what she was doing during her stay, and she explained she was coming to meet my family and such. He said she and I might want to start a K1 visa to prepare for marriage, and she said she was waiting for hers.

By this point, the only thing left to do was to be interviewed on April 4th when she went back.

Anyway, South Korea is a visa-free country so it worked out with now problems.

I got back today after a wonderful week spending with my fiancee.

It was the easiest entry (JFK) I've ever experienced! No waiting line at all and the CBP officer didn't ask me 1 question. I only had to do the usual fingerprint check, then he stamped my passport and I was good to go. So now I'm back after an amazing week (we received our NOA2 when I was there) and next time I go, it's for real!

Ok So I just got back from Newark last weekend visiting my fiance the USC. I was pretty nervous (as I always am!) and had all docs to support that I was intending to return!

So i stepped up to the counter in Newark and he asked me

"How come your travelling alone?"

I said, Im visiting my boyfriend

"What is he doing here?"

He lives here

"Hes an american?"

Yes he is

"How did you meet and what are your plans together here?"

We met online, and we are going to look at some wedding venues

"Oh so now your engaged" and he sits back in his chair

(my heart is pounding like crazy)

I say yes, show him my ring and give him my biggest smile :D

He says, "well congratulations, when did you meet?"

I said we met around 14 months ago

"isnt that a bit soon to be engaged?"

I say well we dont exactly want to do long distance forever, and once you know, you know, right? :innocent:

he says "True true, Good luck  " and stamps my passport

BREATHE!!

I was questioned at the check point for around 10 minutes by this guy, he was actually pretty laid back, if not extremely opinionated!

Also when I got back to the UK i had more problems than entering the US.

The lady said my passport was in bad condition and looked like it had been tampered with :help:

I had to stand there for a while while she waited for someone to come over, she asked me whether I had been near Boston, and that she was surprised they let me into newark with this passport.

So a second more senior immigration officer came over, took one look at my passport and said you can go through

Really glad I dont have to do that again soon and hes coming here next!

Anyone had any luck visiting the US from Canada for around 5 months while waiting for the NOA2. I'll have to quit my job (which I hate anyway lol), but will evidence of bank loans, accounts, etc be enough? I could get a letter from my "landlord", but he is just a friend I stay with. I pay rent but there was no lease etc. I'll also be bringing my pets with me, will this raise red flags? I wouldn't want to be away from them that long.

Thanks!

I'm from winnipeg, Manitoba and while we were waiting for our NOA2 I've been in the states visiting him for the past 3 months and I've got another couple weeks left before I go back to winnipeg. I had no problem getting in. I would suggest getting a letter from your "landlord", because you need to show that you have ties to where you're staying. With regards to pets, I have a small dog that I left behind with my parents, if you bring them along with you, just show that you couldn't leave them behind for that long

my fiancee is going to come here tomorrow and she will be staying for one month. since the CSC is going so slow I would like her to stay for two. has anyone heard anything of when you are going through customs that they stamp your passport for when your return ticket is (in this case one month)? or do they just stamp it for the 90 day VWP period?

They normally stamp it with the date in 90 days time. For instance, I flew in on a 2 week ticket (and had to show evidence of my return flight) but my passport was still stamped 1 July (i.e. 90 days). I cancelled my return flight after I arrived at our apartment and I am likely to rebook it for early June, now that we have our NOA2 at long last.

I have heard of some instances when a passport has been stamped with the date of the return flight. Or other criteria placed on your admittance to the US e.g. no AOS allowed. However, that would be likely to happen after some discussion in a separate room and not at passport control. I assume that their stamps are all set up at the beginning of the day for 90 days.

Just ensure that your fiancee has plenty of stuff to show her ties to her home country, a copy of her ESTA and a printout of her return ticket and she should be okay.

Visiting boyfriend, yes engaged, yes resigned recently and moved back to Japan from SE Asia, living at home etc.

She said we were in process, filled the 129f together in the 10 days she visited in Feb engaged on Golden Gate Bridge etc.

She asked him to put a not in to speed up the K-1 haha.

He just asked her to be patient.

Stamped.

The only documentation asked for was return ticket.

Apparently the reason to go to secondary was to update the non-current ESTA address.

Just wanted to add my experience:

My fiance has visited me in the US three times since we got engaged last May. The first two times he was honest at the airport (Washington Dulles) and was not questioned at all. The third time, this past December, he entered at Minneapolis-Saint Paul and mentioned he was visiting his fiance's family for Christmas. This time he was questioned in a special room about his intent to stay in the country. He was completely honest and had his materials with him - he told them he was in the K1 process and it would be stupid for him to try to stay. He had a return ticket. They let him through, though it was a nail-biter for me, waiting for him!

Hope everyone else has a lovely visit. I'm hoping he won't have to visit again and VSC will speed things up!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this whole process of talking in a forum online, and to the K1 visa. I wondered if anyone can help with a question or 2 since the information is sometimes hard to narrow down to a specific answer.

I have a girlfriend in Brazil who I am completely crazy about and want to marry, with no doubts or questions in either of our heads. We were going to apply for the K1 visa to bring her to the States so that we could live together. She has 2 children, who may, or may not come along also. Her oldest child may attend college in Brazil, but her 2nd child is still in High School.

Should we be listing them on the K1 visa when we apply? If they don't come now (when my girlfriend is approved), will it be difficult for them to come later? We're really not sure how it works with children involved??

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi guys,

Just thought I would let you know I entered the US today at Chicago O'Hare.

Went a little like this....

'Reason for your visit?' - Vacation

'Where are you staying? - Chicago

'Who are you visiting?' - My fiancée

'What do you do for work in the UK?' - Construction

'Four fingers and look at the camera please'

Total time, 45 seconds!

I had everything with me! K1 package, proof of ties, return tickets, NOA 1, NOA 2....EVERYTHING!

He didn't even ask how long I was staying for! Stamped for the full 90 days on the VWP.
