Ok but I must say that I'm french, white... and old. It could be different for other people.

I will not hold being French against you, many might.

Hi everybody,

I've been lurking on this website and this topic for a long time, so it'd be only fair to add my experience for the ones to come!

I'm Dutch, he's American. We filed our I-129F in March and have our NOA1 dated March 16th. I had with me: a copy of my former passport (that had just expired but had loads of stamps and visas from earlier USA trips in it), a letter from my boss of when he's expecting me back, a copy of my return flight, and a digital copy of our NOA1.

I am currently in the USA and was nervous for the border but it went fine:

POE: Boston Logan Airport- I was in the blue line (non-visa holders, etc) because I had a new unused ESTA bc of my new passport.

Officer: What is your purpose of visit?

Me: Vacation

- takes finger prints and picture-

O: Okay so vacation, when are you staying until?

M: Monday

O: Okay, are you staying with somebody?

M: yes

O: So who are you staying with?

M: My fiance *insert stress level increase here*

O: And he lives in *checks custom form* Rhode Island?

M: Yes, that's right.

O: So where did you guys meet?

M: I studied abroad in upstate NY in 2013 where he went to college

O: alright, what was the name of the college?

M: *insert name of college*

O: okay *stamps passport* have a good trip.

He didn't ask for any papers, not even my return ticket copy. It surprised me because when I was here before in November '17 before we were engaged they were asking way more questions (this was in Dublin) such as: do you guys plan on getting married (I just said probably but he hasn't asked me yet), where he works, where I work, and I had to show a copy of my return ticket.

I guess it has a lot to do with the officer that you speak to, but honestly it went fine.

Good luck to everybody.

This question has probably already been answered in here somewhere!

I have already visited twice since receiving NOA1 in Feb and did not experience any issues, however i am planning another trip in a few months, which could potentially be after the NOA2 (it is to attend a friends wedding), is visiting still fine? (providing this is before my embassy interview)

  • 2 weeks later...

I need advice guys!!

I have not filed my I-129F yet, I am hoping to file by the end of June 2018. My fiancé has plane tickets to come visit me at the end of August. He has a B-2 which is valid until 2022. He has visited the USA several times prior and has never overstayed. On his longest visit 2 years ago, he left one week before his 6 months were up. Other visits have been a maximum of 2-3 months each (total of 4 or 5 entries since he got his visa in 2012).

The problem is that my fiancé is quite nervous about visiting me here in the USA after I have filed I-129F (presumably we will already have received NOA1 and awaiting NOA2 at that time). Despite what I told him about what I have read on here, he is still quite apprehensive. He even suggested that we file AFTER he arrives in late August, which would add a 2-month wait for the visa. I am hesitant! I read somewhere that the beneficiary is not even on USCIS' radar during the NOA2 wait.

He will have a return ticket and he has sufficient proof of ties to his home country (owns a condo, parents still live there, own business) that he can show that he will not overstay. But I also thought I read on here that if a NOA1 has been received that it should be presented?

So I am confused ... what is the ideal situation?

Thanks in advance!

How long will he be looking to visit for?

Just wanted to share a successful trip across the Pacific Highway border crossing near Vancouver, BC. I was traveling along with my beneficiary, Scott after flying up to meet him. We had to go into secondary for him to get his new I-94 regardless, but the border agent was friendly and kind and they didn't ask us anything different from what they did before pending I-129f. We were headed to a music festival and had the car packed up with camping gear as well.

I thought I'd share a quick summation of my recent visit to the US.

Our NOA1 came on 2nd April 2018, and I visited my fiance from 28th April until 27th May. I took with me a copy of the NOA1, a copy of my tenancy agreement, and a letter from my work (in case I needed to prove ties to the UK). I was very nervous - I knew being turned away would be highly unlikely but even the possibility of it made me jittery. Anyway, the conversation went along the lines of:

Officer: Purpose of visit?

Me: Visiting my fiance

Officer: Is that in Houston?

Me: He's picking me up here, but he is from [another Texan town]

Officer: Have a great trip [stamps passport]

It was very fast and straightforward! He didn't even ask how long I was staying, or for proof of return ticket, and he certainly didn't ask for any proof of ties to my home country. He actually asked me less questions than I've had on previous visits - prior to the filing of the i-129f. I'm hoping to visit for another month at the end of August so I'm hoping I will have the same smooth experience then!

I-129F Sent: March 24th, 2018

NOA1 Received: March 27th, 2018 (Old Site) / March 30th, 2018 (New Site)

NOA2: October 1st, 2018

NVC: October 21st 2018

Consulate Rec: November 5th 2018

Medical: December 5th 2018 (booked later due to visiting fiancé for most of November)

Interview: December 19th 2018, approved!

Visa In Hand: December 31st 2018

POE: January 13th 2019

He will likely be here for 3 months but his return ticket is for a month after his arrival.

Deb and I filed early may I drove down last Thursday. I got a couple extra questions but no secondary inspection. When asked about when we were getting married I told the guy that it was completely up to the U.S. government at this point in time.

Hey guys,

Hope this may be of use to someone in the future. We have a pending K1, still waiting on our NOA2 and as I’m from Northern Ireland I decided it may be beneficial to use the preclearance in Dublin. I had all home ties documents etc (just in case).

Asked 4 questions:

1) Whats the purpose of your trip?

Answer: Leisure

2) How long are you staying for?

Answer: 9 days, including travel back

3) Have you been to the US before?

Answer: Yes

4) When was the last time you were here?

Answer: 9 months ago exactly

STAMP!

So as I’d say I would highly recommend the preclearance in Dublin for any EU citizen or non-EU citizen with a pending K1. Once your precleared, there’s literally no stress. Super easy.

Oh you guys... I´m so nervous!! I´m visiting my fiancee for almost the 90 days(VWP). I´m a college student and we thought it would be nice for me to spend the summer with him. Now, I´ve visited him 2x (the last time we had already filled for the K1) but each time i only stayed for 3 weeks.

I've a bunch of documents proving my ties but... 90 days is a lot. Hopefully i can make it :/

When are you going to visit? :)

I am in the same situation, however, I'll "just" visit for a month. Fingers crossed!
