Oh god, we just received our NOA1 on August 17th....I sent the package August 11th. I'm no where near planning my wedding, apart from looking at dresses : )

Hi all,

Just to chip in - I'm currently in the US visiting my fiance. POE was LAX airport. K1 received date June 5th.

All the immigration officer asked me was what my reason of travel was. When I said holiday, visiting my fiance, he nodded. asked for my finger prints and approved me. However, I think he was distracted, because I had not been able to get a ticket at the machines for ESTA due to validity of my passport. I had been (over)prepared for that, but when I approached his booth, he asked me for my ticket and I didn't have it, that's what the conversation was about.

Apart from a loooooong line, this was my easiest entry so far in terms of questions.

Good luck to all travelers!

Hello everyone,

another couple with the same question.

I'm Italian and my fiance is American. He proposed in April and we just filed for the K1 few days ago. Now I'm planning to visit him this November and to stay for a month.

I'm currently working as an intern, but I will finish a couple of days before my ideal departure.

My question is: what can I show them to prove that I will return home and not illegally decide to stay?

I'm also enrolled at university, can I show them that I have to go back to finish my exams?

Any suggestion is welcomed.

Ps: do you think we will receive the NOA1 before November? We sent the package yesterday (Sep 14th).

Thanks a lot.

Erika

So I have a question about the amount of money one should have when entering the states (probably asked a million times...). I am a recent graduate and won't start my new job until December, therefore I have only couple of hundred of dollars on my account right now. I am going to visit my man for two months this October. My family and fiance are willing to transfer some money to my account...but the question is: How much money do you reckon I should have for a two month visit that would satisfy the border patrol?

PS! I do understand that there is no certain amount but let's say if I have around 1000 Dollars...does that sound like enough?

Thanks lovelies! xxxxx

Hi  :)

I just wanted to let everyone know that we received NOA1 in mid-july and I am just back from a 10 day trip to the US while our K1 is processing and it was absolutely fine!

I was sooo nervous about going through POE at Newark because I had read some things on VJ which scared me but honestly, there were no issues. The officer was very nice and congratulated me when I told him about my engagement - he didn't even ask any questions about the K1 visa.

I brought proof of my employment, a copy of my return ticket home, a copy of NOA1 and also a copy of my name on my car insurance, but I wasn't asked for any type of proof of return. However, I would still recommend that you bring it just to be on the safe side :)

Has anyone traveled to visit once interview is scheduled? We want to surprise my mom for her birthday this month. Our interview is Nov 3. He would probably stay for 3 weeks and then we'd fly back together for interview stuff. Thoughts?

Glad it went smoothly Lorna!  :)

Craig is nervous as he's coming in a couple of weeks. He has copy of NOA1, return tkt and employment letter so hoping that will be enough if they ask for backup.
