Will he have  a job by September?

Hi everyone! I want my fiancé to visit in sept for an engagement party and to help me pick out our new place for when he's here. By then he should have scheduled his interview. Our NOA1 date is 4/3/17. The issue is he doesn't have a job. He's really concerned they will turn him away. He'll have his return ticket as well as his interview date, hopefully. What else can we do to guarantee his entry in. We plan for him to be in for no longer than two weeks. He's coming from the U.K.  Thank you so much for the information in advance.

Hello,

Tell your fiance not to worry!! I visited my fiance when we had our interview booked and it was honestly no issue whatsoever. I had loads of evidence, and wasn't even asked for it - despite discussing the K1 process with the POE officer. I've got a full list of items I took as evidence on my blog, the link to the post is here. But I'd just have his return flights, (sorry just seen you said he won't have a job, but if he can even print out his train or flight tickets for his trip to London, that will show he is planning on returning)  + your print out the interview confirmation, maybe the print out of his travel insurance and the date he is insured to!

My POE was New York and I flew from Glasgow :) Any other questions feel free to DM me !!

He doesn't have a job. He just graduated. Got his results in July. That's part of the worry. He's worried it looks as if he has no ties. He lives with his mom. He's not working.

I hope so. He's looking, but he's not one that's good at lying so he's not really listening to my plea of not telling them that you'll be leaving as soon as your visa comes through. Plus he's worried that if he does get a job they won't let him off for two weeks approx a month after starting.

Sorry! I edited my comment after I saw that part!! I doubt it will be too much of an issue.. as I said I wasn't even asked for any evidence! They did ask what I worked as, but if he's just graduated, he can tell them that he's just graduated from college! I don't think he will have too much of an issue, as long as he can evidence ties to the UK, does he have a phone bill he pays for, any car insurance - that type of thing?

He has a credit card bill. And bank accounts, but that's essentially it. He takes care of stuff, but none of it is in his name. If that makes sense.

OK well if I was him, I'd take the following:

- Return flights

- Travel Insurance (showing dates insured to and from)

- Copy of credit card bill showing the amount outstanding

- Train/flight tickets for his upcoming trip to London trip for the interview (As the date is after his visit, shows an intent to return)

- Interview confirmation (shows the date of his interview and that he is expected back)

- Copy of your NOA1 + NOA2 (just shows you're going through the proper channels to get to the US legally)

Even if he just gets a little part time job in the interim to tide him over until he gets a graduate job or the visa to move, you could then get a letter from the employer to state when his vacation dates are to and from :) I wouldn't let the fact he doesn't have a job put you off too much though, if you can provide other evidence and have your interview booked etc and the return flights/travel insurance - then that shows he is planning on going back to complete that. As I said I wasn't even asked for anything , so probably worry for nothing!! :)

Thank you so much! That's what I figured to be honest. I couldn't fathom us doing all this and paying all this money to get to the finish line and "sneak" him in. What sense would that make. But my love bug is a pessimist on a good day.

You're very welcome! Yeah I know, it seems a bit backwards to me as well! However as long as you come prepared, it will be less stressful! As I said if you or your fiance have got anymore questions please feel free to message me!! :) Good luck with your process, hope NOA2 comes for you soon!!!

I entered the US yesterday! I also just graduated, don't have a job back home and moved back with my parents 2 weeks ago. NOA1 date is April 6th. I was super nervous that they would deny me entry, but all they asked for was my return ticket! :) POE was LAX.

Hi Dutchess , when you passed  the immigration , you told them you came here for visiting your fiancée? And did them ask you again when you pass the customs ?

I want to visit my fiancée too. I visited him in February last time when I passed the immigration there was no problem and they give me 6 months but when I went thought the customs they checked my luggage and asked me some questions and was surprised how can I get the B2 visa wile pending the K1 visa. But finally they let me in and trust me.  My fiancée did something wrong with the forms we didn't receive anything  (so we re do the K1 on May and got the first Notice NOA1 on June 1st. ) So for this time we are nervous because we got the real progress. Don't want to make anything bad for the K1.

I'm so happy you are in America now with your fiancé ! Have a nice trip there !

They asked me my reason for visiting in customs, yes! I figured being honest is always better and he just asked for my return ticket :) and asked how we met and how long we've been together and he even said 'Isn't that a little early to be getting married, you're still young'. I also mentioned that we are doing the K1 visa and that I have to go back home for the medical and interview. And he let me through and everything was fine!

Just be honest and make sure you have the confirmation of your return ticket with you :)

Thanks! I'm super happy we're finally together again for now!

Even if you were turned away at POE because they thought you had an intent to stay on your B2 visa, it would not affect your K1 visa in the slightest! As a K1 is an immigration visa, the intent to stay is expected. So don't worry about that :) As Dutchess has said, just take some paperwork to evidence your ties to your home country and you should be fine! :D
