Feb to August is only 6 months, your visa will not even have been processed yet. i would recommend oct or nov of this year to have your application in. that will put you around june or so of 2018 when you get approved. you then have 6 months to have her travel here (of which you would only use 2 or 3 of) and again, once she enters the US, you need to be married within 90 days.... so if she enters the US with the visa before July, you would have to get married before your wedding date

OK so the next question... I see the K1 visa I-129F is that the only form I need to file or is there more in that list?

there is one additional form plus the I-129f includes more than just the form itself... refer to this page for clarity:

Some of these come later in the process.

Bear in mind that targeting a specific date for a wedding can be a little dangerous if you're aiming for a big one.

In our case we'd targeted a date once we had an idea how long it was going to take, but we made sure with the venue (hotel) and other suppliers that we could change the date if we gave them a month or more's notice. We deliberately booked a Sunday at the venue as these are low demand so we could not be blocking a date that would likely be in demand by other people. Most of our family were travelling either from Europe, or hundreds of miles away in US, so didn't need to be at work the next day.

It wasn't a massive wedding, about 40 people, but we had close friends and family from both sides, from several countries and it was much nicer than a court house quickie.

We had friends and family booking flights and hotels once I'd had the interview arranged (we were pretty sure nothing would go wrong), but it is a bit stressful until you have visa in hand.

So when you send in the I-129F... are you sending in the other forms or do they request those forms at a later date?... I'm looking at your timeline and I don't see the other forms listed .. Just alot of NOA1 and NOA2, NVC and some other acronyms

She will most likely not be coming here permanently until the end of August for the wedding to be the 1st week of September... and if you say we have 6 months from the time it's approved to be married and 90 days from her entering the US then it should all fall in our timeline... but I see what your saying... yes submit the application October-November 2017 and it should be approved by 6-8 months... if the application is approved in 6 months that means October to April and we have 6 months from April... would be October... we want the wedding in September... 5 months.

Or am I missing something

Technically, the 6 month visa expiration date starts ticking from the date of the medical, but if she has the medical close to interview date, shouldn't be much of an issue overall.

Shortly before the interview.

Visa isn't granted until the medical is completed by an approved physician.

WOW holy #######... I just saw the list of what she needs for the medical interview... does she need to bring with her... I don't mean these

 Your visa interview appointment letter,

 Your passport,

 Four (4) recently taken passport-sized color photographs, and

 A copy of your immunization records

That's the easy part... in my opinion... as long as the doctors don't put her appointment off by 6 months.

OMG

Please use the list below to determine the items that every applicant must bring to the immigrant visa interview:  A “LetterPack Plus” self-addressed, prepaid envelope (available at most post offices). Please write “documents” on the “Contents Descriptions” field and include a local address. We will use this to return your passport after the interview.  A copy of your NVC interview letter (does not apply to Diversity Visa, fiancé(e), adoptive, or asylee/refugee applicants).  Unexpired passport valid for six months beyond your intended date of entry to the United States and a photocopy of the biographic page (where your name and photo are located).  Two (2) color passport-size photographs of each person applying for a visa (5 cm x 5 cm, or 2 inch x 2 inch). Please review our online photo requirements.  Confirmation page from the Form DS-260 Application for an Immigrant Visa you submitted online at ceac.state.gov/iv.  Your original birth certificate, English translation, and a photocopy.  Medical examination results in a sealed envelope (if the physician gives you these results). Applicants who fall into any category listed in italics below should bring these additional documents: For family-based visa applications:  The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s. If more than one person is travelling on the case, a photocopy of the Form I-864 and supporting documents must be provided.  Proof of your U.S. petitioner’s status and domicile in the United States (photocopy of a U.S. passport, naturalization certificate, or lawful permanent resident card).  Evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and visa applicant (such as photographs, letters, or emails).  If you are married: Your original marriage certificate, English translation, and a photocopy.  If you were previously married: Your original divorce or spouse’s death certificate, English translation, and a photocopy.  If you are older than 16 years of age: The original police certificate from your country of current residence and countries of previous residence. Your Japanese Police Certificate should be in a sealed envelope. If the seal is broken, the certificate is no longer valid. If these three items are all true, you must bring a more recent certificate to the interview: 1. You are older than 16 years; 2. You obtained a police certificate more than one year ago; and 3. You still live in the country that issued the police certificate.  For employment-based visa applications: Letter from your U.S. employer dated less than one month ago.  If you have ever been convicted of a crime: Court and criminal records, English translation, and a photocopy.  If you have served in any country’s military: Military records, English translation, and a photocopy.  If you are adopted: Adoption papers or custody documents, English translation, and a photocopy.  If you are the petitioner’s stepchild: The original marriage certificate of the petitioner and your biological parent, English translation, and a photocopy along with divorce records for any previous marriages of either parent.

they want divorce decrees... I hope she can find her's... I have no idea where mine is.

Nothing to stress out. They send out a list of documents applicable to the case down the road.

You listed

DS-160

DS-156K

DS-156

DS-230?

The DS160 is the current applicable form, it replaces those others. See

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/news/Department-of-State-Transitions-to-DS-160-for-K-Visa-Applications.html

You don't send the DS160 yet. You complete that prior to your interview. The process may differ a little based on your location (I interviewed in the UK in 2015, process might have changed a little since) but typically you have to undergo a medical and complete the DS160 online and then a "ready to interview" form, and at that point they schedule the interview. Some time after NOA2 your application is sent to your local US embassy, and they then send you information about next steps, including the DS160.
