Me and my fiance just received our NOA2, im planning to travel Usa in May to use my summer vacation from work. I know it will take awhile until application to move nvc and then to the embassy. So should i be okay to travel with Esta? Thank you in advance.

How long will your trip be? I got my NOA2 late january, and I am travelling in april, but only staying 2 weeks. I think the further along you are the more weird it looks to them. By may you might be looking at scheduling interviews, if you are lucky. It is possible to stall a little, i suppose, but depending on your embassy having a backlog or not may is still 2 months away so you will probably be getting ready to do all that. But a shorter trip might be ok.

The biggest reason I am going in april is because back in november our estimate was looking closer to march-april for NOA2 and then things sped up again. XD Also our visit last october got kinda messed up, and we didnt get to do the preparations we wanted to.

Either way, like Yareth was saying earlier, justbe sure to bring documentation to tie you to home if you decide to go. 😃

Which consulate? Please fill in your timeline. You could have an interview in May. But yes, should be ok depending on when you were last in the US?

Sorry for late reply. Finland! Last time i was in US in January, stayed there around month. Planning to stay this time 4 weeks.

Thank you for your reply! im planning to stay 4 weeks, obviously if we hear something i can always move or cancel my tickets. I have no idea what is the situation in Finland embassy atm.

I have full time job and apartment here, so i do have strong ties to home. :)

If you are staying a month or more I think you have to look into the new alien registration.

More hoops to jump through. But we do it! 😅

And Finnish applicant go to Stockholm, like me (Norwegian)! And NVC sent my case straight there so I don’t think there is a backlog but I am still waiting for a letter from them. 🙈

Yes i noticed that today! Kinda frustrating to go all the way to Sweden but no can do 😅

I tried to understant what i read about that new alien registration but i really didin't understant 😅 oh well, i might cut my stay bit shorter then. But do it affect since i travel with Esta?

Btw would be great if you can share your steps with Swedish embassy, interview scheduling etc, im not really finding too much info about Sweden!

Aliens admitted to the United States as nonimmigrants who were issued Form I-94 or I-94W (paper or electronic), even if the period of admission has expired;

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

ESTA is something you fill in that allows you to get on a plane, travel to the US and seek entry on the VWP.

In ye olden days you would be given a form to fill in on the plane, I 94 that was then haded in at Immigration.

Now things are done electronically, the information is part of filing for ESTA, your I 94 assuming admitted can be found online.

One thing I never did but legally you should is have your Passport with you. Like if you have a Green Card you should have it with you, never did that either.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Yeah I know, I have found /no one/ that is ahead of me since they made changes last december lol.

I have an update thread in the sub forum for this k1 forum, its called progress and something-something. I have been documenting a lot, so if you wanna ask questions or check up on it you can read about it there or message me if you want. 😃

And I think you still have to register? Even with an ESTA? Because you dont do an interview process with the ESTA, they dont take your biometrics and such. But I could be wrong. I know they took mine when I entered the country, so maybe that is enough?
