Hello everyone!

I requested my EAD to be expedited on June 22, 2018. Received an update on June 27 saying that my case was assigned to an officer and I was sent a response. On July 6 I received a letter in the mail asking for further evidence to support my request and was given a fax number to fax it to.

Now, this number is not working because it keeps saying either BUSY or NOT ANSWERING. My congressman is already involved as well as the Ombudsman

What do you guys think I should do?

1- Should I keep trying faxing it?

2- Should I mail it to the NBC in Missouri?

3- Should I give up and just accept the fact that people and the media will always stand for the illegals and not us the people that want to do it the right way?

I am honestly frustrated, it's been five months that I haven't been able to work or study, and I've been living off of my husband and it is honestly depressing.

I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Thanks.

You'll find my timeline in my signature.

Not an expert in this area so I'll leave that for some others with this experience; but just noting that it's the main stream media doing it. There are a lot of neutral and opposing view news sources; but glad you do see what they are trying to do. Best of luck to you.

I'm sorry getting a tourist visa then marrying to cut in front of the line is the right way? Guess I was mixed up on how it is supposed to be done.

Well apparently entering the country legally through a POE, getting a background check to visit your boyfriend, and then changing your mind 3 months after (Using AOS procedures established by USCIS) is worst than walking across the border and then claim to be the victim.

It's been 5 months since you could not work.  Who's fault is that?  You entered the USA on a tourist visa!  So for more than  3 of those 5 months you could not work, you were so supposed to be a tourist.

To answer your questions:

1.  yes, keep trying to fax it.

2.  Sure, why not.  You have nothing to lose.

3.  Can't answer that for you.

I am aware that the first 3 months doesn't count. I just wanted to share my thoughts with some people that might be going through the same. After all this process can be very frustrating.

I wanted to help you and give my experience. But you wrecked your own thread by totally unnecessary commentary.

You made a new thread when one exists for exact same scenarios. You aint only one with fax issues run a search.

there is other fax numbers...claiming humnitarian grounds sure hope you are going to work for a non-profit. Also you can mail your evidence.

Good Luck.

Well that argument aside I will tell you what they may well tell you anyway. If not working is such a hardship on you you would have returned to your country as you intended filed cr-1 and been able to work until you were approved and been able to work as soon as you arrived. Regardless, good luck to you.

The OP is permitted to file for AOS, and that's really all that is relevant now.

Waiting 3 months to file for AOS was a mistake. There is no basis for waiting a fixed period of time...this only delayed your own process. There is no USCIS policy regarding 3 months/90 days (you're likely referring to a DOS policy, not USCIS/DHS policy). Now requesting an expedite because of a hardship due to an unnecessary wait seems unlikely to be successful, but you are free to request it. Expedites are taking an extended period right now as well because of the backlog of requests for them.

Nothing involving the media or whatever had anything to do with this topic...please avoid importing unnecessary drama. You have a legal path...focus on using it or you'll drive yourself crazy.

There's nothing (legally) preventing you from studying while you await a green card. The institution may have their own rules on what they accept and/or if they charge you as an international student vs resident.

I'd keep trying to fax it...mail to NBC is not likely to be seen for a matter of a few to several weeks.

Thank you.

I had a break from university back in my home country and I used it to visit my then boyfriend for the winter season, I was not expecting to end up staying.

I'm not filing my EAD Expedite based on how long I've been in the country, but because in my family there's a chronic condition that requires expensive medical treatment. And due to that and the fact that I need to work in order to compliment my husband's income is that I'm requesting the expedite.

Yes you are right, I should be able to study here. But the international tuition compared to the resident one is a 4 times difference.

I apologize if anyone felt offended but as we all know this is a long process and it can be very stressful and in my case depressing.

I do

If its not for a non-profit. I would not be claiming anything on humanitarian needs. Nor would I mention anything around school. I would show examples of the medical expenses/costs, bills in the usa, possible bank accounts....id show a job description and how many interviews/etc there was.

Do not confuse the officer. You are writing to explain you worked to get a job offer to help financial hardship which are xyz.

People who use humanitarian grounds, is like you work for a nonprofit and need to be in XYZ firm to abc, conference...etc... USCIS for sure gives preference to schools/nonprofits over a large company that can hire anyone
