Exactly! The wait for the AOS is much more insane compared to the  wait for visa. Ive been waiting for EAD and AP for 4 months and i have been desperate and now in the 5th month  that i have been caring less and getting use to life  i just saw that my case is ready for the interview! Some Things really come up in the most unexpected time!

I have heard that this ready to be scheduled for interview can take up to a year!  We received this notice a few weeks again. Since then, nothing.....

Oh bummer! Hopefully they’ll just send me my EAD and AP then, do you have them already?

Yes. My husband received his EAD last October. That took 144 days.

Thank you so much for all the replies. It definitely helped calm my nerves. I woke up today to an “issued” status on the CEAC page (I know I know, I said that I wouldn’t check! Lol)

Did they expire his license when his 90 days expired since his legal entry ended?

No - he provided our marriage certificate as proof of PR applicant status (a bit weird, they wouldn't look at our NOA1) so the license is valid for 2 years, the norm in our state.

Just to recap, our (MN) license timeline:

  • After arrival/marriage, within I-94 validity: go to DMV, take (and pass) written test, receive proof that allows scheduling of driving test
  • After I-94 validity had passed: take (and pass) driving test, provide marriage certificate, receive full license

Lucky you. My husband got his license on I-94 which was good until that expired. He was then granted a 120 extension until EAD arrived. Once EAD arrived, he was given a license for one year. That will expire soon and still no green card. The state of Georgia gives one 120 day extension which he has used. If he doesn’t receive his AOS status soon, he will not be able to drive. Very frustrating.
