Dear friend,

My ex-boyfriend is American who had applied K1 visa for me in 2012. I received P3 and arranged a interview date in 2013. Due to some reason, I did not go for interviews.  Our relationship broke.

I met my current boyfriend last year 2016. He is American too. We planned to get together after communicated 9 months. He wanted to get me to US.  We need to apply K1 to get to US. I would like to know: Does the previous unfinished K1 affect my current K1?  If so, what should we do?

Thank you!

Pretty sure by now your old k1 is long gone and expired.

But anyway, only the petitioner can cancel the petition.

Well it's your choice whatever you prefer k1 or cr1 visa. There is literally countless threads comparing those 2. There is also comparison chart available on the website.

Don't pay attention to k3 visa. It's no longer used.

Thank you. We will look into this website.  We don’t need other visa since I won’t move to live in US so soon. It will be 2.5 years later.  Thanks again.
