Photocopies of Documents?

I'm probably being really stupid... but before I waste any ink.

On the Embassy website on the instructions on what to bring for the interview it says 'You are required to obtain the original or certified copy, and one photocopy (with the exception of your passport and photographs) of the following documents for yourself and each family member applying for a visa. All documents are required even if they were previously submitted to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services with your petition.  Please do not submit any documents to NVC.

You are required to bring all of the documents applicable to you to the Embassy on the day of the interview. You must click each section for detailed information regarding documents required.  The failure to bring the correct documents to your interview may result in your application being denied.'

So does that mean I should photocopy my police certificate, birth certificate and have an extra copy of the i-134 (with all the supporting documents?) Has anyone else done this or am I just reading into this way too much? I just want to make sure I have everything because my nerves are so on edge right now.

I took one photocopy of everything (including I-864, W2's and tax return), but was only asked for the original documents.

For peace of mind I would do what the website asks for and take a photocopy of each.

It does. But in reality, they quit requiring photocopies about 2 years ago. The scan your originals then hand them back.  Formerly they wanted to view the original and put your photocopy in the file. They are a little more digital now. But if you are nervous, copy your personal documents.

You need a copy of I-134 for your files. The embassy does not need you to hand them 2 forms. Basically don't hand over your only copy of income evidence without making a copy for your files.

Thank you and yes I had my fiance send me copies and send me scanned for all the I-134 documents.

Okay well that settles everything in my mind then!

Just breathe and trust the process right?

The affidavit of support is a "form" (not document).. That is given to them as an original and you have your copy at home on the computer or in a little file of your journey in case you want to review it again. The embassy gladly accepts photocopies or scans of bank statements or pay stubs or tax returns/transcripts. So the originals are in your home folder to photocopy again for AOS application. If you have an employer letter, that should be given to them as an original and you have a photocopy  at home in your file. But they aren't that picky and won't fail you if your fiancé scanned and emailed the employer letter.

Police certificate, they may keep so have a copy in your home file. Birth certificate, divorce decrees, military discharge and the like they will return to you. Keep your wits about you when you hear "approved" and make sure they remembered to give those personal documents back after the interview part. Take in photocopies of those for peace of mind because the website says so, but they tend to say "we don't need those".

Yeh I meant to say form and supporting documents.

I do have an employer letter but that was scanned and emailed to me to be printed. As his job changed after we received the NOA2.

So I have an original from his previous and the scanned for his new one.

Saying that, will he have to change anything on the affidavit?

Does the I-134 list his current employer (page 3)? If not, then it's not accurate, is it?

Okay, so I will have to get him to fill in the form again but obviously his tax returns are going to be from the previous job?

So have both versions of the forms and explain the situation at the Embassy?

Just get him to scan/email a new version with the correct employer and explain you didn't have time to receive the original. You can show both. Last year's taxes don't have to be from current employer. They are simply last year's taxes.

The affidavit is about current income. If he makes more (or less) in the new job, adjust the i-134 to show what he will earn in a year at the new job.  Many have been approved without a tax return.

Or pretend he didn't change jobs and go with what you had originally. NO, I did not just say that. Ignore me 😮😂😉

Hahah!

Yeh I won't I will take both and explain the situation ( because I'm super OCD and want to make sure I have it all right, I just called USCIS and they suggested to take both with me too ). I'm sure it's not unheard of having a job change and he earns more in the new one. I have employer letters from both and written statements from the bank along with his W2 and statement statements. So I am hoping with all of that, it will be okay?

Thanks for all the help too! It's easy to get lost in 'OMGGGGGGG HAVE I GOT EVERYTHING!? IS THIS CORRECT?!' Kind of forget that you're doing it to be with someone you love, and that you need to trust in that sometimes.

You know USCIS has nothing to do with this part?  It is the Departmemt of State that approves and issues visas. You go back to USCIS for adjustment of status. They issue green cards.

Seriously, London visa unit is very understanding. It is nothing to worry about. Read what these people said

Mhmm but the i-134 form does fall under them, that's why I called.

And yeh I am less nervous, they actually have got a new programme out on Channel 4 here, called 'Inside the US Embassy' they focused on Visa approvals and Visas in general last week. You could see that they were understanding and that it wasn't as scary?

It was nice to see inside? Beforehand?

I'm just very hard on myself if I get details wrong, and I just want to be with my other half now. It's been a long time...
